Patient Representative Group Meeting Minutes

Patient Representative Group Meeting Minutes 16 May 2016 Apologies

Ray Humphries

Minutes from last meeting

Minutes need amending from last meeting – regarding training of staff.

Dr Hampsons Retirement

Thank you letter received and read to PRG members.

Questionnaire Action plans discussed with PRG members.  Blood test service this would not be a good service to ask to be comissioned – we have Ladies Walk Centre in Sedgley who offer a service and local Hospital’s Guest, Russells Hall and Corbett Hospital these all offer a range of appointments – also as the courier comes mid- morning to collect our samples from the surgery and it would not allow for many appointment times – in order to collect blood and label samples.  Sit and wait service – we offer too many appointments to offer a sit and wait service – it did not work the last time we tried it at the surgery. Appointments work a lot better for our practice size.  Surgery between morning surgery and afternoon surgery – doctors are doing home visits, practice meetings and paperwork.

Future for the Practice: Dr Pritchard updated group on future plans for Northway Medical Centre.

Dr Moran has become a Partner at the surgery.

We will not be merging with Woodsetton Medical Centre.

We are employing two salaried Doctors to start in August Dr R Chandegra and Dr G Ugamah.

Practice Area Discussed practice area – Dr Pritchard has become senior partner – practice boundary needs to be looked at as a lot of patients out of area. Only way to keep the patients who are out of area are to deduct the patients and re- register with the understanding no visits will be offered to patients.

Patient Group agreed with this decision.

CCG update by Dr Pritchard.

Saturday mornings worked well at the surgery – arrange a letter to be sent to the CCG to encourage more – also this was feedback from patients via our patient questionnaire.

Apply for PRG purse fund – discussed what would be good for practice. A machine that takes, blood pressure, height, weight and BMI – Keith will come in to complete application form.

Complaints sign on TV and posters – regarding address for surgery and email address – unable to fit this information on the poster – there is a leaflet in reception will details regarding name, address and contact numbers on that can be taken away. Receptionist can also give patients this information at front desk or on telephone.

Doors in reception heavy and hard to open and keep open when pushing pushchairs or wheelchairs – suggested push pull signs – also electric motorised doors – explained space is not big enough for those doors – had a look with some PRG members it was decided to take the doors of catch off second door so it is easier to open doors.

Cecil Thomas PRG Chair from Ridgeway Surgery is interesting in coming to Healthy Walk to develop own at Ridgeway – will email over details of different walks that are offered and times.

Barclay’s Bank are trying to set up free training on how to use national health website – no date yet.
