Page 3 of 8 Job Purpose We seek a highly motivated and driven Operations Manager who enjoys challenge and relishes the opportunity to fully utilise their expertise and experience to continuously improve and develop our High Voltage Coils business. We believe that this appointment is critical to our planned growth. The core purposes of this role are: 1. Lead, motivate and engage department employees and those in the wider business, leading by example. 2. To oversee and be responsible for production and all related activity in the High Voltage Coil department. 3. Full P&L responsibility including department financials, analysis and forecasting. 4. Delivering all processes associated with reporting to Operations Director, notably on-time delivery, product and service quality, managing customer expectations, production scheduling from the quotation enquiry to delivered order cycle etc. The HVC Department is an integral unit in the business and crucial to the continued growth and development of the Company. Page 4 of 8 Operations Manager (HVC) Department - Duties and Responsibilities: The Operations Manager (HVC) will ensure that the Department’s objectives are met, which support the Company’s strategic requirements.  Build exceptional internal relationships within the HVC Department and other operational areas as well as the wider Houghton International Team.  Champion the development of the HVC team and ensure that they are multi-skilled, creating a flexible workforce.  Understand, maintain and promote the vision, values and mission of the Company  Meet or exceed the objectives of the HVC Department over the short-term, medium- term and long-term.  Continuously improve the HVC Department using recognized methods such as KPIs to demonstrate measurement, control and development of your human, fixed and financial assets.  Utilize and contribute to the development of management information and provide timely, valid and appropriate reports to senior management on your Department’s performance.  Implement and use the Company’s Employee Handbook and policies and procedures and provide consistently a fair, balanced and equitable approach in all your activities.  Strive to be ‘World Class’ in all aspects of tasks undertaken.  Ensure the HVC Department is fit for purpose, robust and flexible to meet varied operational peaks and troughs without working capital tension.  Champion Health and Safety and ensure that policies and procedures are adhered to.  Ensure visual and manual aids are kept up to date.  Attend trade events where applicable.  Ensure all activities meet and integrate with Houghton International (and Customers’) health, safety, legal, cultural and environmental policies and procedures.

KPIs to achieve the strategic plan as per Project 2020:

 Improve gross profit to meet and exceed budget.  Improve product quality and ensure production is ‘right first time’ and meets the quality target of 99.8% and strive to 100%  Ensure that the Department’s skills matrix and competency framework is fully completed, signifying that the team are trained to the highest standard so that business goals can be met.  Implement S.O.Ps for all processes within the HVC department.

1. Develop a strategy to meet Project 2020 requirements. 2. Look to dissolve bottle necks in production processes. 3. Improve and re-engineer production process streams. 4. Lead research and development and improve engineering systems and tools. 5. Engage with the wider Houghton International Team to promote, educate and champion the importance of what ‘World Class’ production looks like. 6. To be responsible and accountable for the effective management of the HVC department. 7. Champion and promote the Company Values.

Person Specification:

To be successful in this role, you will need proven manufacturing and management experience, ideally gained in an engineering environment. You will have experience in working in a fast paced, dynamic and innovative environment with a mindset of wanting to better processes and develop people. The successful candidate will be a pragmatic and lateral thinker who can manage issues and make decisions.

Typical qualities of the successful candidate will include:

Essential:

 Experienced working in a processing and manufacturing environment - minimum of 2 years within a similar management role.  Exceptional people management skills with a personable approach.  Proven track record of team building with experience of growing a department or team.  Ability to build relationships with both external and internal customers and understand and address their needs Ability to maximise time and efficiency.  Financial and budgetary experience – ability to maximise gross profit and manage a P&L.  Ability to resolve bottle necks in production or processes.  Experience of managing high capacity workloads and forecasting.  Experience of forecasting turnover and gross profit.  Ability to plan and organize work so that our products are delivered promptly and reliably.  Proactive approach with the ability to identify opportunities and develop new ideas that will lead to improvements.  Ability to adapt and change behavior or plans to better achieve targets and objectives.  Ability to analyse complex problems and identify potential solutions by exploring realistic alternatives, taking into accounts risks and potential business impact.

A desire to exceed expectations through a commitment to improving productivity, conformance and on target delivery.  Ability to provide clear direction and vision to your team; to motivate and develop staff through effective performance management.  Ability to delegate whilst remaining accountable.  Ability to be decisive, demonstrate sound judgement and take action in critical, high- pressure situations.  Excellent IT skills with competency in Microsoft Office products.  Full UK driving license.  Ability to travel within the UK and globally if required.

Desirable:

 HVC manufacturing experience or similar  Winding/Fitting experience or similar  Electrical Background or similar  High and Low Voltage knowledge
