Campus Kitchens Project TRT: 1:40 Intro: In this season of giving, students at the University of Nebraska at Kearney have put their talents to use providing nutritional meals to those in need. UNK is the newest member of the national non-profit Campus Kitchens Project. Mary Jane Bruce reports.

(VO) Ham and potatoes sizzle on the
stove. It’s another mouthwatering meal
prepared by UNK students after hours
in the dining hall kitchen.
Marty Full (SND) Fifty-two people are getting meals Super: Marty Demoret twice a week… UNK Student (VO) Student volunteers use surplus and Students donated food to make meals for those in
need.
Borchert Full (SND) What we do is help schools and SUPER: Karen Borchert students use food that’s existing on their Dir., Campus Kitchens campuses and in their communities to deliver to members of their community… Students cooking So healthy, nourishing meals to homebound seniors, low-income families, children and various agencies that provide services to the community.
(VO) The program becomes a living
classroom for volunteers who learn
leadership and organization skills. But for
many students…it’s more than a resume builder.
Marty Full (SND) A lot of them come because they want to be involved in something that makes a difference and in this case you actually see the clients face-to-face.
