City/Country Info: The main campus of Kwansei Gakuin University is located in Nishinomiya (西宮), a residential city with a population of 440,000 situated between the cities of Osaka and Kobe. Nishinomiya is known as an educational city; six 4-year colleges and universities are located here, along with four junior colleges. Areas for outdoor recreation are numerous, from the sea shore to the mountains. Nishinomiya has a professional baseball team, the Hanshin Tigers. The public transportation system is extensive and very well developed. One-day trips to the nearby historic cities of Kyoto and Nara can be made easily. The Kobe-Sanda campus is located in Sanda, a newly developed “Culture Town.” This campus is about an hour’s drive northwest of the Nishinomiya-Uegahara Campus. Although Sanda may seem somewhat calm compared to the busy city of Nishinomiya, the common campus architecture and landscaping in both locations provide a sense of unity, despite their geographical separation.
