Ava Doner Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship Application Two Amounts: $10,000 and $7,500 Due Date: Tuesday, June 20, 2017

The Ava Doner Memorial Scholarship was established in 2000 by the Los Angeles Chapter of WTS to encourage women to pursue career paths in transportation or a related field. The scholarship honors Ava Doner, who was a wonderful role model and mentor to many women in the transportation industry. She was a pioneer in business with a long and illustrious career as president and founder of Engineering Associates. She helped establish organizations to encourage the growth and development of aspiring women entrepreneurs and found time to support them during her entire career. The Ava Doner Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship is in the amount of $10,000. In addition, WTS LA will award a second scholarship in the amount of $7,500. The scholarships are competitive and applications will be evaluated on the following criteria: transportation career goals, academic record including curriculum and grades, commitment to transportation as demonstrated by extracurricular activities and/or work experience, writing skills, and the recommendation. Minority candidates are encouraged to apply. The minimum selection criteria are as follows:

a. Open to women only b. GPA of 3.0 or higher c. Currently enrolled in a undergraduate degree program in a transportation-related field, such as transportation engineering, planning, finance or logistics, or in the field of environmental planning and science d. Plans to pursue a career in a transportation-related field or in environmental planning e. Enrolled in a school in Los Angeles County or have residency in Los Angeles County

NOTE: Previous winners of this scholarship are not eligible to apply.

Her academic and career interests include transportation, urban development, and sustainability.

VI. Recommendation: Submit by postal mail one signed original letter of recommendation by a professor or job supervisor. The recommendation may also be emailed directly from the recommender to [email protected] (Email is preferred)

VII. Official Transcript: Submit by postal mail an original copy of your transcript sealed by your school. The transcript may also be sent electronically directly from the school to [email protected] (Electronic is preferred)

VIII. Proof of Enrollment: Submit by postal mail or scan and email a copy of your tuition receipt or current registration card to [email protected]. (Email is preferred)
