Laboratory Test Reports: For Insulation, indicating compliance with requirements for low-emitting materials. 5. Product Data: For insulation, indicating that R-values comply with tables in ASHRAE/IES 90.1, Section 6 - "Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning."

0.4 INFORMATIONAL SUBMITTALS

A. Coordination Drawings: Reflected ceiling plans, drawn to scale, on which ceiling-mounted access panels and access doors required for access to duct accessories are shown and coordinated with each other, using input from installers of the items involved.

B. Sample Warranty: For manufacturer's special warranty.

0.5 WARRANTY

A. Manufacturer's Special Warranty for Flexible Ducts: Manufacturer agrees to replace flexible ducts that fail from defects in materials and factory workmanship within specified warranty period. Manufacturer's warranty will cover all duct cost, material cost, and any reasonable labor cost, provided manufacturer's product was properly installed in accordance with its written installation instructions.

1. Warranty Period: 10 years from date of Substantial Completion for Thermaflex Pro Series excluding MKC and EverClean. A full lifetime warranty applies to the MKC and EverClean products to the original building tenant.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

0.1 ASSEMBLY DESCRIPTION

A. Comply with NFPA 90A, "Installation of Air Conditioning and Ventilating Systems," and with NFPA 90B, "Installation of Warm Air Heating and Air Conditioning Systems."

B. Comply with SMACNA's "HVAC Duct Construction Standards - Metal and Flexible" for acceptable materials, material thicknesses, and duct construction methods unless otherwise indicated. Sheet metal materials shall be free of pitting, seam marks, roller marks, stains, discolorations, and other imperfections.

C. Comply with the Air Diffusion Council's "ADC Flexible Air Duct Test Code FD 72-R1."

A. Non-Insulated, Flexible Duct: UL 181, Class 1 Air Duct, coated woven fiberglass fabric supported by helically wound, coated spring-steel wire.

1. Basis-of-Design Product: Subject to compliance with requirements, provide Thermaflex; a Flex-Tek Group company; S-TL or a comparable product by one of the following:

a. Flexmaster U.S.A., Inc. b. JP Lamborn Co. c. .

2. Pressure Rating, 2-inch to 10-inch (50.8 mm to 254 mm) Diameter: 16-inch wg (4000 Pa) positive and 1.0-inch wg (250 Pa) negative. 3. Pressure Rating, 12-inch to 20-inch (305 mm to 508 mm) Diameter: 10-inch wg (2500 Pa) positive and 1.0-inch wg (250 Pa) negative. 4. Maximum Air Velocity: 6,000 fpm (30.5 m/s). 5. A. Insulated, Flexible Duct: UL 181, Class 1 Air Duct, coated woven fiberglass fabric supported by helically wound, coated spring-steel wire; fibrous-glass insulation; reinforced metalized vapor-barrier film.

1. Basis-of-Design Product: Subject to compliance with requirements, provide Thermaflex; a Flex-Tek Group company; M-KC or a comparable product by one of the following:

0.4 FLEXIBLE DUCT CONNECTORS

A. Clamps: [Stainless-steel band with cadmium-plated hex screw to tighten band with a worm-gear action] [Nylon strap] in sizes 3 through 18 inches (75 through 460 mm), to suit duct size.

B. Non-Clamp Connectors: [Adhesive] [Liquid adhesive plus tape] [Adhesive plus sheet metal screws].

PART 3 - EXECUTION

0.1 INSTALLATION

A. Install flexible ducts according to applicable details in SMACNA's "HVAC Duct Construction Standards - Metal and Flexible" for metal ducts and in NAIMA AH116, "Fibrous Glass Duct Construction Standards," for fibrous-glass ducts.

B. Install flexible ducts according to ADC's "Flexible Duct Performance & Installation Standards", Section 4, Installation Requirements.

C. Install in indoor applications only. Flexible ductwork should not be exposed to UV lighting.

D. Connect terminal units to supply ducts[ directly or] with maximum [12-inch (300-mm)] lengths of flexible duct. Do not use flexible ducts to change directions.

E. Connect diffusers or light troffer boots to ducts[ directly or] with maximum [60-inch (1500- mm)] lengths of flexible duct clamped or strapped in place.

F. Connect flexible ducts to metal ducts with [adhesive] [liquid adhesive plus tape] [draw bands] [adhesive plus sheet metal screws].

G. Install duct test holes where required for testing and balancing purposes.

H. Installation:

1. Install ducts fully extended. 2. Do not bend ducts across sharp corners. 3. Bends of flexible ducting shall not exceed a minimum of one duct diameter. 4. Avoid contact with metal fixtures, water lines, pipes, or conduits. 5. Install flexible ducts in a direct line, without sags, twists, or turns.

I. Supporting Flexible Ducts:

1. Suspend flexible ducts with bands 1-1/2 inches (38 mm) wide or wider and spaced a maximum of 48 inches (1200 mm) apart. Maximum centerline sag between supports shall not exceed 1/2 inch (13 mm) per 12 inches (300 mm). 2. Install extra supports at bends placed approximately one duct diameter from center line of the bend.

3. Ducts may rest on ceiling joists or truss supports. Spacing between supports shall not exceed the maximum spacing per manufacturer's written installation instructions. 4. Vertically installed ducts shall be stabilized by support straps at a maximum of 72 inches (1800 mm) o.c.
