As you view the movie, “Explaining CCSSE”, note what you can do in your classes to help HCC improve their CCSSE scores and student success. The prompts in the video allow you to stop the movie to consider and note your ideas for keeping or changing what you and your learners do to address the actions identified in the benchmark data. The prompts below allow you to continue to reference the benchmarks to plan your courses. (Use the links at the end of this document to learn more about HCC and CCSSE)

Benchmark #1: Active and Collaborative Learning

Discussing readings/classes outside of class | Collaborative projects and assignments | Any sort of class presentation | Teaching others | Community-based projects

Benchmark #2: Student Effort

Use of computer lab | Preparing drafts | Using multiple resources | Using tutoring or Skill Lab | Opportunities for prepping for class | Reading for enrichment (beyond the required textbook)

Benchmark #3: Academic Challenge
