“ Power 106 All-Stars Help Gardena High School” Half-time performances by Jay Sean, Dev, New Boyz, Rej3ctz & Mann! Thursday, February 17, 2011 – Gardena High School
The Power 106 (KPWR, 105.9 Los Angeles) All-Stars Basketball team is playing Gardena High School, Thursday (2.17.2011). Gardena High School received a lot of unwanted press this year when a student brought a firearm to school and it went off and hit 2 students. In addition to being an exciting fundraiser for Gardena High School, this basketball game and concert provides a platform to unify the student body and bring a much-needed dose of positive energy on campus.
Gardena High School Principal Raul Mendoza said, “I would like to thank POWER 106 for their genuine and timely support to the students, faculty, and staff of Gardena High School. As we continue to move forward and build academic success, events such as this basketball game contribute greatly to the overall spirit and pride of the Gardena High School Family. Again, thank you so much POWER 106!”
The Power 106 All Stars and celebrity guests donate their time to play basketball with area high school teams and their faculty. The schools sell tickets to the games and keep 100% of the proceeds. The Power 106 All Stars helped area high schools raise over $300,000 in 2010.
Scheduled to perform are recording artists, Jay Sean, Dev, New Boyz, Rej3ctz & Mann. In addition, J. Cole, Jeremih & Dj Quik will play on the Power 106 All-Stars team! Power 106‘s Coach, DJ E-Man said, “Our staff loves playing basketball. These games are an amazing platform to showcase new emerging recording artists while helping schools raise money. The schools get to keep 100% of the proceeds raised from ticket sales. We specifically wanted to work with Gardena High to help lift the spirits of the student body and bring them together for a night of fun.”
The event takes place, Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Gardena High School, located at 1301 West 182nd Street, Gardena, California 90248. Game starts at 7:00pm, admission is $8.00. Scion is the official sponsor of the game and is providing a $500.00 donation to Gardena High School.
Power 106 is owned and operated by Emmis Communications, a publicly traded company on NASDAQ (EMMS). ####
