Inter-School Rugby & Netball Matches Last Friday we played rugby and netball matches at home to Cefn Cribwr Primary School. On the netball court both our ‘A’ team won by 9 goals to 6; our ‘B’ team then played Cefn’s ‘A’ team and performed really well before losing by 4 goals to 1. Our ‘A’ rugby team won by 6 tries to three with Lloyd Thomas (3), Finley Davies, Austin Davies and Ethan Dewar scoring. On Friday 29th September we will be playing matches at home to Pencoed Primary School, starting at approximately 1.25 p.m. Parents are welcome to attend matches to support our teams.

Jeans for Genes Day 2017 Many, many thanks to all of our pupils, parents and members of staff who supported our Jeans for Genes Day last Friday. We raised almost £360 which will make a difference to the 500,000 children in the UK affected by life-altering genetic disorders.

Autumn Term Harvest Assemblies – Foundation Phase The following classes will be performing special Harvest assemblies in the Infants Hall this term. Parents/ Grandparents of children taking part are welcome to attend. Class 6 (Mrs. Crowley) Friday 20th October 2017 (2.30 p.m.) Nursery Friday 27th October 2017 (1.30 p.m.) All Harvest donations will be given to Bethlehem Life Centre Food Bank. Thank you in anticipation for your support.

Autumn Term Class Assemblies – Key Stage 2 (Juniors) The following classes will be performing their assembly in the Key Stage 2 Hall, starting at 10.15 a.m. Parents/ Grandparents of pupils taking part are very welcome to attend these assemblies: Class 14 (Mrs. Blight) Friday 6th October 2017 Class 13 (Mrs. Jones) Friday 13th October 2017 Class 12 (Mr. Pedler) Friday 20th October 2017 Class 11 (Mrs. Powis) Friday 27th October 2017

Swimming Lessons – Autumn Term 2017 Swimming lessons for Class 10 (Miss Morgan) will begin on Monday 2nd October and will continue until Friday 13th October. Pupils in Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 will have daily lessons from 11 a.m. – 12 noon at Pyle Pool. The timetable for the Autumn Term 2017 is as follows: Monday 2nd October – Friday 13th October: Class 10 (Miss Morgan) Monday 16th October - Friday 27th October: Class 9 (Miss Bevan) Monday 6th November – Friday 10th November: Class 12 (Mr Pedler) Monday 13th November - Friday 17th November:Class 11 (Mrs Powis) Monday 20th November – Friday 24th November: Class 13 (Mrs Jones) Monday 27th November – Friday 1st December: Class 14 (Mrs Blight)

PTA Coffee Meeting - Tuesday 3 rd October 2017 Members of our Parent-Teacher Association are holding a ‘Coffee Meeting’ for parents/ grandparents and friends of our school community on Tuesday 3rd October at our Foundation Phase Hall from 9 a.m. onwards (proceeds to go to MacMillan Cancer Support). Your support at this event would be really appreciated.

School Photographs (Foundation Phase) - Wednesday 4 th October 2017 The School Photographer (ColorFoto) will be visiting the Foundation Phase (Infants) site on Wednesday 4th October from 8.30 a.m. Group photographs with younger/ older brothers and/ or sisters will be taken first. Following this, the individual photographs will be taken.

Pupil Achievements A number of our pupils have recently achieved success in their hobbies outside of school. For example, Year 6 pupil Isabella Warlow continues to perform outstandingly well in her Ballroom Dancing competitions, most recently winning the All Girls Latin event at the All England Championships in Stockport near Manchester. This followed success at the UK Closed Championships in Bournemouth as well as at competitions in Worcester, Stoke and Birmingham. Year 5 pupil Tiana Woodward has now achieved her yellow belt with a black stripe in kick-boxing and has been selected as one of only 10 people in her club (including adults) to move into the black belt training class. Emma Wilkins (Class 1) has recently achieved her 10 metre swimming badge whilst Gracie Davies (Class 13) and Chloe Davies (Class 8) both won individual and team medals at their final Lifeguards competition of the year at Aberavon Beach last weekend. Year 6 pupils Finley Davies (football), Lloyd Thomas (rugby) and Ethan Dewar (football and rugby) represented Bridgend Schools in their respective sports last weekend. Well done to you all – you should be very proud of your achievements!
