English Breakfast English Breakfast English Breakfast A blend of three whole leaf garden Assam teas. This blend is best described as full bodied, robust and rich in flavour. It produces good colour when combined with milk. English Breakfast Tea This world class English Breakfast blend is far from ordinary. Blended with delicate Ceylon, a gutsy Assam and rounded off with the tasty South Indian Tea. Over a hundred years ago in Scotland, a man called Drysdale crested a Tea called ‘Breakfast’. This soon spread to England with the help of Queen Victoria and Albert whose passion for all things Scottish at their Balmoral retreat created a craze for the blend. Tea shops in London However, changed the name to English Breakfast. Several different permutations have been created over the centuries, but this Novus English Breakfast is typically exceptional. Only the finest tea estates are used to select this blend which is truly delicious. Novus English Breakfast is full bodied and robust in the cup. It has a delicate flavour, yet plenty of punch, often a morning requirement. Sapphire Earl Grey Novus blenders have carefully refined the traditional Earl Grey recipe, using only pure Ceylon tea which provides more binding sites for retaining the distinguished flavor from oil of Italian Bergamot and Malva flowers. The citric qualities of the Bergamot fruit and the subtle nuances of the Malva flower combine with the more full-bodied and rounder taste of the Ceylon tea, creating a wonderfully unique blend of tea for any time of the day.     Mumtaz Mahal - The Inspiration Taj Mahal – a symbol of true love built in the memory of beautiful Mumtaz Mahal or Arjumand Banu, still stands as the supreme unparalleled grand monument ever built in the history of human civilization. Arjumand Banu was the daughter of Asaf Khan, who was married to Shahjahan at an early age of 14 years. Imperial city of Agra was already agog with stories of her charm and beauty. She was the third wife of Shahjahan (Prince Khurram) and the most favourite one throughout his life. She was named Mumtaz Mahal in 1612 after her marriage and remained as an inseparable companion of her husband till death. As a symbol of her faith and love, she bore Shahjahan 14 children and died during the birth of their last child. For the love and affection she showed to her husband, Mumtaz Mahal received highest honour of the land – with Royal seal – ‘Mehr Uzaz’ from the Emperor - Shahjahan. The emperor and his empress moved towards Maharashtra or Deccan in the year 1630 to supress Lodi Empire that was gaining strength at that time. This was the last journey that Mumtaz Mahal ever took. She breathed her last after delivering their 14th child (a daughter) in the city of Burhanpur in June 17, 1631. It is said that Mumtaz Mahal on her deathbed asked Shahjahan to create a symbol of their Love for its posterity, and her loyal husband accepted it immediately. Though, many historians do not agree with this story, saying that it was the grief-stricken emperor himself who decided to build the most memorable symbol of love in the world.

INTRODUCTION A Soldiers’ Tea Party in Surrey n a cold Friday evening at the end of November in 1941, an unknown photographer captured a quiet moment when a group of Indian O soldiers came to Woking, Surrey, to rest, pray, and drink tea. These men and the residents of this unassuming town in southern England had been fighting Nazi Germany and its allies for just over two years. Germany had reduced whole neighborhoods of London to rubble, had conquered much of the European Continent, had invaded the Soviet Union, and Japan was about to attack Pearl Harbor. Although things looked very bleak at this point in the war, Great Britain was not alone in its struggles. In 1941 it was not an island nation but a multinational empire able to marshal and supply a huge military machine. Men and women from the Indian Subcontinent, from Africa, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and so many other regions in the empire were fighting this war. American money, munitions, and supplies had also already been deployed against the Axis powers. Millions of people and a great deal of tea sustained the nation at war in 1941. Like so many other nation-states, Germany, Japan, and the Soviet Union included, twentieth- century Great Britain was a global creation. Its history cannot be separated from the multiple worlds with which it interacted, whether in periods of war or times of peace.
