Fall Garden Tasks Below is a helpful list of tasks that students can work on in the garden during the fall.

 Plant Garlic

 Plant Flower Bulbs

o Ask local businesses for bulb donations—Warners, Native Plant and Seed, and Home Depot

 Extend the Season!

o Cover crops with row cover and old blankets to protect them from evening frosts.

 Spread manure and compost

o Craigslist often has posting for free manure if you haul it yourself. Folks with horses and other animals. They are usually more than willing to unload their garden gold for you.

 Seed winter cover crop

o Clover, winter rye, or vetch help add nutrients to the soil over the winter and prevent erosion.  Harvest and cook

o The fall is a great time to enjoy the garden’s bounty. Teach the students how to make delicious foods with the garden produce. Easy recipes include pesto, zucchini bread, squash soufflé, and kale chips.
