Cold weather crops such as spinach and salad greens do well in a cold frame and can help extend the growing season. . They are usually more than willing to unload their garden gold for you.</p><p> Seed winter cover crop</p><p> o Clover, winter rye, or vetch help add nutrients to the soil over the winter and prevent erosion.  Harvest and cook</p><p> o The fall is a great time to enjoy the garden’s bounty. Teach the students how to make delicious foods with the garden produce. Easy recipes include pesto, zucchini bread, squash soufflé, and kale chips.</p>
