This is a question we often ask ourselves. Even in the middle of the pandemic, in the midst of these socalled holidays that the world brings us, often Christmas is trapped with the many things that it brings but not with Christ. The world sees Christmas more with reindeers, poetry, gifts, and even shop windows that catch our attention. How do we see it? Each morning, as soon as our alarm goes off, before being taken by our daily grind and rescheduled Zooms, before that fear and anxiety would take over everything we have to do, let us say: “Come Emmanuel! Help us to surrender everything to You today!” In this way, Jesus would be the center of our day; whatever would happen, He would not leave us alone. This is a way of getting ready for Christmas. After all, without that “little baby”, there would not be Resurrection. He came to the world and filled the darkness with his great light and changed forever the meaning of Love. He is the pure love who gives light to every person. In less than two weeks we are going to celebrate Jesus’ birth. This Christmas, let's get ready for His coming! Third Sunday of Advent Three weeks until our new parish, Saint Jude, officially begins. The responsorial psalm of today's liturgy is Mary's prayer, the Magnificat, from the Gospel of Luke, her prayer of joy, hope, and confidence. We know that change isn’t easy, that leaving the past be- hind is difficult, and that no one knows what will happen in the future. But we are a pilgrim people of God, a people filled with hope who are confident that with Jesus as our head and the Holy Spirit as our guide we will become a united parish community. Our mission this Advent and always is to be a parish community that effectively pro- claims Jesus’ Gospel of divine mercy and truly witnesses to it by our lives. Let us con- tinue to pray for our parish clergy team, our parish staff, and our leadership councils, that they will fearlessly lead us to be disciples of our coming Savior. His coming means our joy and gladness, our hope for the future. We need you extra support more than ever before I am sending a letter to all registered parishioners this coming week expressing my prayerful best wishes to everyone at Christmas. These are such difficult times to try to maintain a sense of parish community. I know we all miss this dimension of being a parish. My letter will also announce the special plans for the celebrations that will be held on January 9 and 10, which officially launches Saint Jude Parish. I hope my letter will let you know that you are truly in my thoughts and prayers. I want you to know that we will do our best to decorate both of our churches for Christmas but for the obvious reasons we have decided to drastically cut back on the interior decorations. We will do everything we can to make both churches beautiful for the Nativity of the Lord, but the decorations will not be what they normally are. Please help us by donating to the Christmas Flower Fund by using the special envelope in the monthly packets. I also remind you that our parish really needs your extra support more than ever before. Please consider including our parish in your end of the year gift planning and in the special Christmas Day Offertory Collec- tion envelope. Any extra help you can give this year will be deeply appreciated. Wednesday Yearning for Sacred We would like to welcome Father Mike Ackerman to our grouping this week! Father Mike is the current director of vocations for the diocese of Pittsburgh and a familiar face at Sacred Heart and St. Raphael's Church. He will come celebrate this Wednesday evening's Mass at 6:30pm at St. Raphael’s Church. Mass will be preceded by a half hour of Eucharistic Adora- tion and followed by a talk on “Yearning for the Sacred” by our own Focolare community! As you probably know, one of our Focolare community house is in our Grouping and is made up of four lay consecrated women. We look forward to seeing you for this Wednesday evening’s Mass and reflection! 3 HAPPENING IN OUR GROUPING The boundaries of Saint Jude Parish Here are the boundaries of Saint Jude Parish, included in the Decree (The Extinctive Union of Sacred Heart and Saint Raphael Parish Into Saint Jude Parish) from Bish- op Zubik: BEGINNING at the point of the beginning at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Shady Avenue, proceed northeast along the centerline of Fifth Avenue to the point of intersection with Hamilton Avenue; proceed west along the centerline of Hamilton Avenue to the point of intersection with Torrens Street; proceed northeast along the centerline of Torrens Street to the point of intersection with Frankstown Avenue; pro- ceed east along the centerline of Frankstown Avenue to the point of intersection with Finley Street; proceed north along the centerline of Finley Street to the point of intersection with Shetland Street; proceed south along the centerline of Shetland Street to the point of intersection with Washington Boulevard (PA Route 8); proceed north along the centerline of Washington Boulevard (PA Route 8) to the point of intersection with Allegheny River Boulevard; proceed northwest along the centerline of Washington Boulevard (PA Route 8) to the point of intersection with the Highland Park Bridge; proceed north along the centerline of the Highland Park Bridge to the middle of the Allegheny River; proceed west along the middle of the Allegheny River to a point directly opposite the endpoint of 51st Street; proceed via airline route to the endpoint of 51st Street; proceed along the centerline of 51st Street to the intersection with Butler Street and Stanton Avenue; proceed southeast along the centerline of Stanton Avenue to the intersection with McCandless Avenue; proceed southeast via airline route to the intersection with Mossfield Avenue and Schenley Avenue; proceed southeast along the centerline of Mossfield Avenue to the intersection with North Aiken Avenue and Black Street; proceed east along the centerline of Black Street to the intersection with North Negley Avenue; proceed south along the centerline of North Negley Avenue to the intersection with Penn Avenue; proceed west along the centerline of Penn Avenue to the intersection with South Fairmount Av- enue; proceed south along the centerline of South Fairmount Avenue to the intersection with Harriet Street; proceed west along the centerline of Harriet Street to the intersection with South Aiken Avenue; proceed south along the centerline of South Aiken Avenue to the intersection with Claybourne Street; proceed east along the centerline of Claybourne Street to the intersection with South Graham Street; proceed north along the center- line of South Graham Street to the intersection with Claybourne Street; proceed east along the centerline of Claybourne Street to the endpoint; proceed southeast via airline route to the endpoint of Ivy Street; proceed south along the centerline of Ivy Street to the intersection with Ellsworth Avenue; proceed west along the cen- terline of Ellsworth Avenue to the intersection with Ivy Street; proceed south along the centerline of Ivy Street to the intersection with Fifth Avenue; proceed east along the centerline of Fifth Avenue to the intersection with Shady Avenue, the point of beginning.
