A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of William Hickman, Jr. With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to William Hickman, Jr., and we pause in silent reverence for his soul. WHEREAS, William Hickman, Jr. was born on April 12, 1920, a native of Hellier, Pike County, Kentucky, and longtime resident of Indian Creek in Virgie, and he traversed these earthly bounds on March 9, 2002; and WHEREAS, William Hickman, Jr. was the loving son of the late William and Vida Mae Sanders Hickman; he was the devoted husband of fifty-five years to Glema Faye Calhoun Hickman, he was the loving father of two sons, William Hickman III and Reggie Hickman, both of Pikeville, and he was the proud grandfather of four granddaughters; and he was the loving brother of Betty Ruth Barnette of Powell, Ohio; and WHEREAS, William Hickman, Jr. was an educator, and at the time of his passing, he was employed by the Pike County Board of Education, and he was a devout member and deacon of Virgie Baptist Church; and WHEREAS, William Hickman, Jr. served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War; and WHEREAS, the passing of William Hickman, Jr. has left a void that cannot be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of William Hickman, Jr., and extends to his family and friends its most heartfelt sympathy. Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of William Hickman, Jr.
