KEYBOARDING Course Syllabus – Mrs. Craigo
COURSE DESCRIPTION Keyboarding is an introductory course to assist students in developing their “typing” skills. They will also be introduced to basic word processing formats & techniques. This course will enable the student to use the keyboard more effectively and more productively.
COURSE OBJECTIVES Demonstrate correct key stroking technique Demonstrate accurate stroking technique Demonstrate continue speed while performing both correct and accurate stroking techniques Demonstrate a minimum of 24 words per minute on a timed test consisting of 3 minutes Demonstrate basic understanding of language pertaining to both hardware and software Demonstrate basic document formats in which keying skills are applied (memos, letter, reports)
GRADING CRITERIA Evaluations o Demonstrate stroking abilities by typing dictated words as keys are learned/practiced o Timed Writings o Demonstrate both speed and accuracy once all letters have been learned & practiced o Assignments o Demonstrate knowledge of proper formatting of memos, letters, and reports.
MAKE-UP POLICY This class is based on continued practice; so therefore, attendance is vital to a student’s progress and ultimately receiving a good grade. If possible, make-up work will be done during class. However, if additional time is needed outside class, students will be assigned extra practice time to be done at home. With prior arrangements, a student may request to stay after school until 3:30
