KEYBOARDING Course Syllabus – Mrs. Craigo

COURSE DESCRIPTION Keyboarding is an introductory course to assist students in developing their “typing” skills. They will also be introduced to basic word processing formats & techniques. This course will enable the student to use the keyboard more effectively and more productively.

COURSE OBJECTIVES  Demonstrate correct key stroking technique  Demonstrate accurate stroking technique  Demonstrate continue speed while performing both correct and accurate stroking techniques  Demonstrate a minimum of 24 words per minute on a timed test consisting of 3 minutes  Demonstrate basic understanding of language pertaining to both hardware and software  Demonstrate basic document formats in which keying skills are applied (memos, letter, reports)

GRADING CRITERIA  Evaluations o Demonstrate stroking abilities by typing dictated words as keys are learned/practiced o  Timed Writings o Demonstrate both speed and accuracy once all letters have been learned & practiced o  Assignments o Demonstrate knowledge of proper formatting of memos, letters, and reports.

MAKE-UP POLICY  This class is based on continued practice; so therefore, attendance is vital to a student’s progress and ultimately receiving a good grade.  If possible, make-up work will be done during class.  However, if additional time is needed outside class, students will be assigned extra practice time to be done at home.  With prior arrangements, a student may request to stay after school until 3:30
