Schedule: Based upon Birmingham City Schools Calendar, Mon – Thurs, 3:45PM to 5:45PM

Teacher Requirements 1. Must have an Alabama state license to teach 2. Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary or Secondary Education (minimum), preferred Master’s degree 3. Must have the ability to communicate with After-school staff, parents, and Birmingham School staff 4. Highly qualified in Early Childhood and Elementary education 5. Dedicated educator who believes all children can be successful learners 6. Committed to creating a classroom atmosphere that is inviting, stimulating, and encouraging to students 7. Advocate for hands-on, student-centered learning which fosters an appreciation for student progress and achievement. 8. Uses games, music, books, computers, artwork to teach basic skills

Reading Teacher Requirements 9. Completed Alabama Reading Initiative (ARI) Training (preferred) 10. Ability to conduct reading assessments on students to gain reading levels 11. Ability to develop an intervention plan to raise reading level and comprehension using games, enrichment activities and individualized tutoring 12. Ability to implement intervention plan through daily sessions

Math Teacher Requirements 13. Completed Alabama Math, Science and Technology Initiative (AMSTI) (preferred) 14. Must have the ability to teach fractions, word problems, simple geometry, decimals, money, time and measurements in a creative and fun fashion 15. Ability to conduct math assessments on students to gain math levels 16. Ability to develop an intervention plan to raise math level and comprehension using games, enrichment activities and individualized tutoring 17. Ability to implement intervention plan through daily sessions

Salary Requirements: Based upon qualifications and experience
