Asian Services In Action (ASIA) is a growing non-profit multi-service agency with two sites (Akron and Cleveland) serving low-income, underserved, limited English-speaking Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) immigrant and refugee populations of all ages. Our mission is to empower AAPIs in Northeast Ohio to enhance their well-being, build their communities and to improve their self-sufficiency through culturally and linguistically relevant information and services.
ASIA is offering a Finance and Program Assistant position. The appropriate candidate will provide fiscal management and program services assistance. The position primarily reports to the Director of Finance but will also work closely with program staff in ASIA’s leadership team.
He or she must be an excellent team player but also be able to work independently. The position is fast-paced, requires juggling multiple projects and tasks to meet deadlines. We are looking for someone who pays close attention to details and is able to work with diverse staff. The person must have a strong commitment to immigrant and refugee concerns. Duties and Responsibilities Assist with managing general fiscal activities of ASIA’s programs and services Coordinate bi-weekly agency payroll processing Assist with developing monthly financial reports and annual budget Assist to manage chart of accounts and help with monthly and end of year grant fiscal reconciliation Under the direction of the Finance Director and program staff, assist programs Work with program staff on program infrastructure and systems project to improve and strengthen the program. This includes: Creating forms and processes to improve timely fiscal and program reporting Assist with grant program reports when needed Help to develop good tracking system so program staff are aware of program related expenses as it relates to the goals and objectives of the grant 730 Carroll Street 3631 Perkins Ave, Ste. 2A-W Akron, OH 44304 Cleveland, OH 44114 330-535-3263 216-881-0330 Other duties as assigned
Qualifications Accounting generalist preferred BA/BS degree, and/or certification with at least 1-2 years of non-profit or for- profit accounting experience Experience with accounts payables and accounts receivables Must have strong attention to detail, numbers and calculations Strong competency using QuickBooks or other accounting software, and Excel Experience working within a culturally and linguistically diverse environment highly desirable Capable of working with multi-cultural and multi-lingual staff, some of whom are limited English Speaking Commitment to excellence in social services Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to manage own activities and stay on-task Ability to work independently and with others as a team member, and to take initiative or leadership when needed Proficiency with or willingness to learn Microsoft Office Suite Willingness to travel regularly between ASIA’s Cleveland and Akron offices to meet with program staff Completed and passed the required background check Valid Ohio driver’s license
