BIBLE STUDY 1 Peter 2:1-3 (King James Version) 1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, 2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: 3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.  HERE IS A SIMPLE FORMAT FOR STUDYING THE WORD OF GOD: I) EXAMINATION FOR SIN  "LAYING ASIDE" MEANS TO PUT OFF ONE'S CLOTHING; TO CLEANSE ONESELF OF THOSE THINGS THAT DEFILE  THERE ARE SOME THINGS THAT DEFILE THE BELIEVER  FIVE THINGS IN PARTICULAR ARE MENTIONED, AND NOTE A) MALICE, DEEP-SEATED FEELINGS AGAINST A PERSON; HATRED THAT LASTS ON AND ON; B) GUILE" THE WORD MEANS TO DECEIVE AND MISLEAD PEOPLE; TO SET BAIT SO AS TO CATCH THEM; B.1) WHEN A PERSON WANTS SOMETHING, HE TRIES TO GET IT...  BY FLATTERY  BY FALSE PROMISES  BY FALSE TALES  BY SUGGESTIVE TALK  BY OFF-COLORED SUGGESTIONS  BY ENTICING WORDS  BY OUTRIGHT LYING C) "HYPOCRISIES" HE WORD MEANS ONE WHO PRETENDS, PUTS ON A SHOW, ACTS OUT SOMETHING HE IS NOT. D) ENVIES" A PERSON WITHOUT GOD LIVES IN ENVY THE WORD MEANS THAT A PERSON COVETS WHAT SOMEONE ELSE HAS, E) EVIL SPEAKINGS" THIS MEANS TO CRITICIZE, JUDGE, BACKBITE, GOSSIP, CENSOR, CONDEMN, AND GRUMBLE AGAINST ANOTHER PERSON.  MAKE SURE THERE IS NOTHING THAT WILL HINDER YOUR STUDY OF GOD'S WORD. CONFESS ANY KNOWN SIN. 1 JOHN 1:9  IF THE SPIRIT OF GOD IS GRIEVED, YOU WILL NOT GET MUCH OUT OF GOD'S WORD.  Ephesians 4:30 (King James Version) 30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

II)ENDEAVOR IN THE SCRIPTURES  1 Peter 2:2 (King James Version) 2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

A) AS A BABY IS EAGER FOR MILK, WE SHOULD BE EAGER TO LEARN FROM THE SCRIPTURES. B) OUR PURPOSE FOR STUDYING GOD'S WORD SHOULD BE TO GROW!  2 Timothy 2:15 (King James Version) 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. III) EXPRESSION OF SALVATION –  1 Peter 2:3 (King James Version) 3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

A) THE EXAMINATION FOR SIN AND MAKE AN EFFORT IN GOD'S WORD IS PROOF THAT WE HAVE BEEN SAVED. B) WE HAVE "TASTED THAT THE LORD IS GRACIOUS".
