General: Furnish steam operated non- electric sump pump to evacuate unwanted water from tunnel or pit. Description: The mechanical sump pump shall utilize steam as the motive source to remove unwanted water from pit or collection area. Unit shall be steam powered with no electrical requirements. Operation of non-electric sump pump shall not increase the temperature of water in holding pit or require pressurization of a vessel. Sump pump shall consist of all stainless steel components for corrosive and harsh environment. Eductor body shall be constructed of ASTM 351 CF8M stainless steel. Float actuating mechanism shall be all stainless steel with actuating springs constructed of Inconnel X-750 springs. Actuation of sump ejector shall be true ON/OFF operation for longer service and shall operate up to 150-psig steam motive pressure. Devices that do not give true steam ON/OFF operation for water evacuation shall NOT be accepted (i.e.“On” defined as full steam flow through valve orifice, “Off” defined as ANSI class III shut off). The sump pump shall be an Armstrong Pitbull sump ejector. Submittal and Testing: The pump manufacturer shall furnish complete installation, and operation instructions.
