RICHARD WILLIAMS DRESSAGE CLINIC

March 29-30th, 2014 to be held at Stony Run Field, 30 Martin Drive, Reinholds, PA Tel: Aubrey 484-772-6763

Richard Williams is known for being an excellent teacher with a problem solving approach. He seeks to teach the rider how to solve their own problems as they arise by creating knowledgeable students with solid understanding of the basic concepts and principles of dressage along with a well-balanced position with which to deliver clear aids. His focus is on understanding each horse’s individual training needs and goals and teaching the rider appropriate position, aiding, patterning and exercises to train their horse effectively for advancement. . His lessons are fresh and new, inspiring and seldom repetitive. They are individualized for each rider/horse combination. He teaches riders to have their horses on the aids by teaching the riders how to apply the aids in a manner acceptable by the horse. His focus is to have horse and rider in self-carriage, riding in balance and harmony while observing the classical fundamentals of relaxation, balance, rhythm, longitudinal flexion, impulsion, suppleness, straightness, engagement and collection.

Richard was mentored by some of the very best dressage experts. He learned his method of teaching and principles from Charles de Kunffy, classical approach to riding from Arthur Kottas-Heldenberg (former chief rider, Spanish Riding School), effective patterning and training methodology from Gyula Dallos (of Hungary.) This strong foundation augmented by training his own Grand Prix school masters, and translating, editing and publishing many books on classical dressage has given Richard a unique education that is very rare in today’s world of modern dressage. Richard has shown professionally in California, prior to moving to Virginia some 12 years ago.
