Item 1: Portfolio Summary Review Lead Greg Smith with subcommittee chairs. Support Information Portfolio Summary Individual Project Tracking Sheets (posted on the portal) Preparation None Desired Outcome Update on subcommittees and their work Time Allocation 15 minutes Action Items Greg needs to fix the Excel script to change the metadata tag.

Data and Standards Subcommittee There are a few datasets that have completed the Initial Stewardship Package process in the last month: Local projects Integrated Water Management Regions Groundwater Basins US Census Communities

Greg needs to fix the Excel script to change the metadata tag. Note: this may be a GeoPortal issue.

Joel has completed the revised Standards document is done. That should be ready for by the end of the week, after it is consistently formatted. The standards are 28 pages, with about 300 pages of appendices. He knows he has to work on the metadata flow document. Joel expect the revised Standards document to be reviewed by the Data and Standards Subcommittee, then send it out to everyone on the GIS list server, and then finalized by the Enterprise GIS Committee. Once it is finalized by the Enterprise GIS Committee, then people can share it with other Departments and agencies.

Training and Outreach Subcommittee DWRE is holding a class at Esri training center. This uses up all the training and service credits for the fiscal year.

Jane is trying to get a training on NHD+. The class will be held at the McClellan Park Training Center this summer.

Item 4: GIS Center of Excellence Strategic Plan Lead DTS Support Information Preparation Desired Outcome Status update Time Allocation 10 minutes Action Items

Tim was not at the meeting, and had not briefed Nancy on the status.

Item 5: Update on Federal-State Geographic Coordination Committee Lead Jane Schafer-Kramer Support Information Preparation Desired Outcome Information Time Allocation 10 minutes Action Items

Jane highlighted what she thought was important. You can find Jane’s notes for the meeting at: https://dwrgis.water.ca.gov/library/-/document_library/view/4819351

The FSGCC is doing a lot of work on drones. Jane sent out the notes on this. Lots of work by the Interior Department on this, they have an arrangement with FAA. No interagency coordination within State government.

Gary Darling is setting up a conference on drones at UC Davis. The conference will be held on October 30, 2015.

Esri will have something on drones at their User Conference in July.

UC Davis will host a GIS symposium on April 1, 2015

CalGIS will have their quarterly meeting on April 6, 2015 in Los Angeles.

Page 3 There is funding for 3DEEP program. Difficult process, especially for the State. No entity set up for coordination between the State and Federal governments. Nevada and Oregon have a good model for this, if anyone is interested. Joel will submit a proposal under this program by June for the Delta LiDAR update.

CSU Northridge has updated NHD in four different counties. Those updates should be available in NHD+ in a week or two. Greg will ask Christina to update DWR’s copy of the National Hydrography Dataset.

Note: If there are discrepancies between this information and Jane’s notes, then rely on Jane’s notes.

Item 6: Esri Users Conference Lead Jane Schafer-Kramer Support Information Preparation Desired Outcome Information Time Allocation 15 minutes Action Items

DTS would like three passes to the Esri User Conference. Right now, there are not 30 people who have signed up, so three passes should not be a problem. Greg asked Leo to fill out the paperwork and follow the process that Jane has outlined for the three passes that DTS wants. Leo said that he could do it for two people, but one position is currently vacant. Leo is trying to hire this person, and he expects the person to go to the Esri User Conference in July. We agreed that he could put “unknown” for the person’s name. As long as Jane knows, then she should be able to work with DTS.

Jane will send out an email after April 1, 2015 letting people know their portion of the cost for the Esri User Conference. Jane said that she had a bit of trouble working finding a hotel with the State rate with the new Concur travel system for the State. She recommended that you be persistent and have broad criteria. Jane recommended that you do not book your airline tickets until late May or June.

ArcGIS 10.3 ArcGIS 10.3 is being tested by ten users. The testing should be done this week. Danny said that no problems had been found yet, and ArcGIS 10.3 should be available for DWR staff next week.

GeoPortal The Enterprise GIS Committee wanted to know who manages the GeoPortal, and was there an update for this? The GeoPortal is managed by the applications group, not Leo’s group. Leo will ask about an update, and let Greg know if there is one.

DEM Central Valley LiDAR CWEMF had a presentation on a DEM from the Central Valley LiDAR. This is an important dataset for the Department. How to get that on ArcGIS server? The DEM is ready. We decided to move this to the image server, and ask Yiguo Liang in Division of Flood Management to fill out the metadata.

LP360 Joel has an AquaAssist ticket in to set up a mailing list for LP360. This is software for 3-D LiDAR display. The mailing list will be separate from the DWR GIS mailing list.

CSU Northridge CSU Northridge is coming up in April (April 6th or 7th), and would like to meet with people that are interested in their services, or working with them. Greg will send out a message asking people if they are interested. Chris might have something he would like to see if they could work on.

Next meeting Greg will be out of town on April 8, 2015. The Enterprise GIS Committee agreed to move the meeting to April 15, 2015. Greg will find a room and send out a message to everyone on the DWR GIS list.
