December 2016

Dear Parents,

As we approach the end of term I write to thank you all for your support this year.

Our Christmas preparations have been a wonderful celebration of our school community. Thank you to all who have helped in any way with our Christmas Plays, Christmas Hampers, Food Bank Collection and Africa Collection. You have helped us to reach out to others during Advent.

This year we have raised £500 for the children in Africa and I know this will be greatly appreciated. We have also raised £ for our school which will go towards our new Nursery.

This term has been a real celebration of gifts and children have shone both on the sport’s field and on the stage at the Christmas Plays. I say every year that we do have the best singers in the world at St Columba’s and this year has been no different.

The Infants really enjoyed their Santa’s Workshop and made some wonderful things, wore some amazing props and had a fabulous time!

People have contacted the school telling me they have noticed the excellent behaviour of our children; they really stand out and rise to the occasion, we have lots to be proud of.

Our Christmas plays mark the end of our 100 year celebrations. We have had a wonderful term celebrating and end the year on a real high note!

Finally I wish you all a very Happy Christmas and New Year. I hope you enjoy the time with your children. Christmas of course can also be a difficult time for many people. Let us also remember in our prayers anyone in our community who will struggle this year because of their circumstances, we think especially of those who have lost loved ones. Hopefully we can be there for one another at this time of year.

Please join our parish community to celebrate the real meaning of Christmas:

Mass times this year are attached. Everyone is welcome to attend any Church; whether you are a Catholic or non-Catholic. Our children have been asked to sing at Christmas Eve Mass in St Columba’s Church at 6pm so please come along if you can.

Thank you

Yours sincerely
