The Brunswick High School Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame has announced its 2013 class of inductees. The late Elbridge Moxley, Dr. Jeffrey Reichard and Albert Sparrow will be honored at 6 p.m. April 27 in the BHS East Cafeteria. The induction ceremony is held in conjunction with the Brunswick Education Foundation’s annual Spring Fling.

Dr. Reichard is a 1986 graduate of BHS and a 1992 graduate of the University of Cincinnati where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering. As a medical student at The Ohio State University, he organized Heart to Heart, and traveled to Ghana taking medical equipment and supplies. He also spent two months in China to learn more about acupuncture and other Chinese medical treatments. He earned his MD in 1997 and completed his residency in Internal Medicine in 2002 and completed a cardiology fellowship in 2005. He is on the staff of St. Elizabeth Hospital, is member of the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease and resides in the Cincinnati area.

Sparrow is a 1960 graduate who was an inductee of the original BHS National Honor Society chapter and was the founding editor of the first student newspaper and was on the yearbook staff. After graduation he attended the Ohio State University and then entered the U.S. Army where he was commissioned as an officer through Officer Candidate School and was a Distinguished Military Graduate. He served as a military liaison to the Department of Defense’s Project Transition, training veterans for transition into civilian careers after their discharge. He served as battalion adjutant in Vietnam where he received the Bronze Star for his service. His unit also received the President Unit Citation for valor. Following his service career, he worked for several manufacturing companies culminating as president of Davies Molding Company in Carol Stream, Illinois. He resides in Grayslake, IL

Moxley was born in Brunswick in 1914 and graduated in Brunswick in 1932 where he played basketball. He then joined his uncle Earl Gibbs’ automobile dealership in Medina. In 1941, Moxley and his brother, John, opened Medina Supply Company, which they operated until 1975. In the 1960s, Moxley and Amos Mears formed the Medina Development Company Partnership developing industrial land in Medina. With another company, he developed Laurel Square and many homes and streets in Brunswick including Yale, Harvard, Stanford, Princeton, Oxford and Laurel Road. He was owner of Moxley Meadows, a standard- bred horse farm producing many of the best race horses in Ohio. He was a member of the Medina Chamber of Commerce, serving as its president for two terms and was inducted into its hall of fame in 1979. He served on many other boards and committees throughout the years and was a 20-year member of the Medina Lions, a member of Medina Lodge 58 Free and Accepted Masons and the Valley of Cleveland Scottish Rite Society, 32nd degree.

The public is invited to attend the induction ceremony and Spring Fling. Highlights of the evening include a silent auction to benefit BEF, the Class of 2013 Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame induction ceremony, entertainment by BHS Jazz Band, and a delicious meal catered by The Hidden Cafe.
