Celebrity Pancake Chefs and Tribute to Karen and Mike Fuljenz Highlight Upcoming Annual Breakfast with the Bishop

Catholic Charities of Southeast Texas announces that Karen and Mike Fuljenz are the honorees for this year’s fundraising Breakfast with the Bishop, an annual event hosted by the agency for the benefit of those served by its seven human service programs. This year’s Breakfast with the Bishop will be held at the Family Life Center at St. Jude Church in Beaumont on Saturday, Apr. 13 from 9 – 11 a.m. The event will also feature local television news celebrities James Brown, Dana Melancon and Greg Picazo cooking up their own pancake recipes to supplement the traditional buffet line full of eggs, sausage, grillades, pastries, fruit, grits, hash browns and other breakfast favorites. Tickets are $20 for teens and adults and $10 for children 12-and-under. Tickets may be ordered or donations may be made by visiting www.catholiccharitiesbmt.org or by calling (409) 924-4427. Mike Fuljenz is the President of Universal Coin and Bullion in Beaumont, and is also a major supporter of programs within the Beaumont ISD and Diocese of Beaumont school systems. Mike has also been actively involved with several area youth sports programs, as well as the Lamar University athletics program. Karen Fuljenz volunteers in several local community organizations, including serving meals to the homebound through the Nutrition & Services for Seniors program and supporting families and individuals facing illness through the Julie Rogers Gift of Life, Triangle Aids Network and Anayat House. Other area causes such as the Southeast Texas Food Bank, Garth House and Shorkey Center count the Fuljenzes among their benefactors. “Karen and Mike Fuljenz offer a wonderful example of personal investment in many different causes,” said Carol Fernandez, President/CEO of Catholic Charities. “They give freely of themselves in ways that have a big impact on children and others in need, and they do so without seeking the spotlight. Catholic Charities is delighted to honor them, so we have the chance to thank them publicly for their extraordinary and faithful support throughout the years.” To help raise funds, Bishop Curtis Guillory’s apron will be auctioned off, and several other items will be available during a silent auction, courtesy of area businesses and individuals contributing items for auction.
