(b) SUPPLY OF CANAL WATER :- Canal water supplies during December, 2014 decreased by 1.82% as compared to December, 2013.

CROP CONDITION

WHEAT: The germination/growth of crop is reported/observed satisfactory. The fog and rain received during the fortnight is reported beneficial for growth of wheat crop. More rain would be required in coming days for sustainability of growth of crop. However, weeds has been reported in R.Y Khan District and D.G Khan Division at places. The availability of fertilizer/inputs is reported adequate. GRAM: The growth of crop is reported/observed normal. However, the Gram crop on sand dunes is reported/observed under stress to some extend due to dry weather. Sufficient rain is need for its good growth. LENTIL: The growth of crop is reported normal. The area under this crop is expected to decrease due to shifting of area into wheat crop. The main growing area is Gujranwala and Rawalpindi division. OILSEED: The growth of crop is reported satisfactory. The crop is in flowering stage and early sown crop has attained pod formation stage. POTATO (AUTUMN): The area under this crop has increased by 6.8% as compared to the last year due to charming rates received by growers during the last year. The growth of the potato crop is reported satisfactory so far. The digging of early crop is in progress at places. ONION The transplantation of Onion crop has been started and will be continued up to February. Weather is favorable for crop. GARLIC The sowing of Garlic crop has been completed and its germination and growth is reported satisfactory. TOMATO The sowing of tomato crop has been started in the Punjab.
