CHL Eligibility Requirements

Below are the facts about the concealed handgun cost and the eligibility requirements to be licensed in the state of Texas.

1) You must be 21 years of age or older.

2) You must be a resident of Texas. (A resident has to live in Texas for period of 6 months preceding the date of application for a residents concealed handgun licenses.) (Texas does offer non-resident licenses. For information on this please contact Joslin Training.)

3) You may complete a Concealed Handgun Licenses class within the 6 months period to your application.

4) You cannot be a convicted of a felony. (Contact Joslin Training for exemptions)

5) You cannot be currently charged with the commission of a felony. i) (Class A or B misdemeanor or disorderly conduct.)

6) You cannot be convicted of a class A or B misdemeanor or disorderly conduct for five years prior to applying for a CHL. i) (Contact Joslin Training for information on background checks)

7) You must be fully qualified under federal and state law to purchase a handgun.

8) You cannot be delinquent in child support.

9) You cannot have defaulted on an education loan.

10)You cannot be under a protective or restraining order.

11) When completing the CHL Class you must obtain two sets of fingerprints and two-passport photo’s. (PASS PORT PHOTO’S PROVIDED FREE TO ALL STUDENTS, NON-STUDENTS $10.00)
