1. What God ordains is always good; Now I may know both joy and woe,

His will is just and holy. Some day I shall see clearly

As He directs my life for me, That He has loved me dearly.

I follow meek and lowly.

My God indeed in every need 4. What God ordains is always good.

Knows well how he will shield me; Though I the cup am drinking

To Him, then, I will yield me. Which savors now of bitterness,

I take it without shrinking.

2. What God ordains is always good. For after grief God grants relief,

He never will deceive me; My heart with comfort filling

He leads me in His righteous way, And all my sorrow stilling.

And never will He leave me.

I take content What He has sent; 5. What God ordains is always good.

His hand that sends me sadness This truth remains unshaken.

Will turn my tears to gladness. Though sorrow, need, or death be mine,

I shall not be forsaken.

3. What God ordains is always good. I fear no harm, For with His arm

He is my Friend and Father; He will embrace and shield me;

He will not let me suffer harm, So to my God I yield me.

Though many storms may gather. ______Hymn #429 (CW), #521 (TLH) Titled: "Was Gott tut, das ist wohlgetan" Text: Deut. 32:4 Composer: Severus Gastorius, 1681 Author: Samuel Rodigast, 1675 Tune: "Was Gott tut" Translated by: composite
