COURSE INFORMATION:

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This capstone course prepares students to become generous, Christ-like leaders through hands-on experience. Catholic Leadership is both intellectual and practical, combining the study of character, virtue, and models of leadership with the pursuit of the Big Idea Project. In the Big Idea Project, students will design a project in which they can practice their Faith and make a positive change, thereby living out Christ's command to be salt and light for the world. COURSE OBJECTIVES:

1. To understand the qualities of leadership; 2. to explain ways to imitate key Catholic leaders, such as Saint John Paul II; 3. to understand how Catholic leadership is distinctive; 4. to explain the definition and acts of magnanimity; 5. to put faith into action by practicing solidarity and magnanimity; 6. to model generous leadership in the Machebeuf community; 7. to create positive change in the wider community; 8. to create a video documentary that captures the experience of Catholic leadership. Other texts and materials will be distributed in class or be made available online.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

1. Students are expected to come to class with all necessary materials and books each day. 2. Students are responsible for knowing material covered in class and assigned reading for quizzes and tests. 3. Students will have, on average, one quiz a week. 4. The student is responsible for contacting the teacher about missed work, quizzes, and tests. 5. Cheating and plagiarism will not be tolerated in any form. See the handbook.
