On Behalf of all the teachers and pupils welcome to The Caroline Lewis Performing Arts School

The dance school is now celebrating its 31st year in 2017, we are affiliated to the Stage Dance & Drama Association Board which is something we are very proud of and provide an all-round performing arts education. The school has achieved and sustained so much from outstanding examination results to amazing reviews of our shows, the school simply gets stronger each year which led the dance school to become a performing arts school. The examination results and standards are one of the highest achieved and maintained consistently on the board.

Pupils & teachers have also performed in the West End, local and national productions and have also attended many specialist classes including the Wayne Sleep workshops, The Italia Conti Stage School, The Sylvia Young Stage School, The Graham Fletcher master ballet classes, National Youth Ballet of Great Britain, English Youth Ballet, Pineapple Studios, Urdang and the new UDO Hip Hop syllabus that was launched in the U.K 6 years ago.

From 2004 the school started to see students in more productions from the King & I at the Grand Theatre Wolverhampton to Coppelia with The English Youth Ballet and Fame the musical at the Birmingham Alexandra Theatre. 2007 - This was another major achievement, 50 pupils performed at The Royal Albert Hall with Mardi Gras. Here along with 800 other performers we performed our then newest subject "hip hop" from here we were then chosen to dance in Euro Disney (August 2008) and for me, Louise & Samantha to choreograph a 20 minute show in the heart of Disney was thrilling!! What an achievement for any dancer or teacher!!! 2009 - We changed the name of the school from the Caroline Lewis Dance School to what is now known as, showing that we are no longer just a dance school and that we provide an all round education.

We now offer tap, ballet, pointe work classes, acrobatics, drama, singing solo and group classes, contemporary, hip hop, commercial modern and jazz, pairs acrobatic skills, adults ballet, tap & modern, classical piano, acoustic guitar lessons and now Cheerleading!!! WOW!!!!!!

We are privileged to have such a dynamic team with a variety of experience, commitment and teaching abilities.

3 Principal - Mrs Caroline Smith Musical Director - Mrs Elaine Buckland (musical director) Head of Ballet - Miss Louise Smith Head of Drama - Mrs Samantha Bood Head of Contemporary - Miss Ros Gellis Head Coach for Cheer – Miss J Daley

We additionally have other senior staff and student teachers, we are now the training headquarters for the examination board for the West Midlands. Additionally I am an examiner, Samantha & Louise are assessors and mentor teachers for other schools and support them towards there schools exams. For the 3 of us this is another avenue and twist which can only enhance our own student’s abilities.

In 2011 Elizabeth opened the Shrewsbury branch. She has completed many sets of exams, dance shows and also offers summer schools. Additionally Liz Raybould one of the Wolverhampton teachers has joined Liz as assistant principal.

Moving forwards the school has seen some of the students in conjunction with Elaine Buckland perform at The Grand Theatre Wolverhampton in various professional shows and the O2 Arena. Additionally they have been for various auditions to represent the Grand Theatre’s Glee Choir.

We also have students who do auditions, talent shows, X Factor auditions and currently have students at various universities studying dance and overseas.

In September 2016 we saw Alicia Barnes go to Bird College in London, a prestigious performing arts school for further education. She commenced a 3 year diploma course and this was an outstanding achievement given the amount of applications received within the UK and overseas. 2014 – Show time and our 1st musical. We have just completed an amazing show with outstanding feedback, 2 nights and sell outs! We did Peter Pan incorporating acrobatics, singing, contemporary, dance and ballet. Our most challenging show yet! 2015 - Exams and then 2016 “ShowTime” celebrating 30 years!!! In 2016 we were awarded CDET status which now fully recognises the school as fully accredited with the council for dance education and training. 2017 saw the school enter it’s first Cheerleading competitions. We took 4 teams to ICE at Walsall and Legacy at The Genting Arena. What an amazing first year for our athletes here – all 4 teams gaining places in the top 3 at Walsall and our Senior team finishing 2nd at the Legacy nationals. 2018 will see us competing at 2 levels and taking 5 teams. The main aim of the school is that the pupils have fun and through this they can reach their full potential. We also cater for the students who wish to go professional and we support with further education/career advice. We also do shows every 18mths to 2 years and the reviews just get better and better and all I can say is that the student’s excel here, the professionalism from all ages shine!

4 I hope this gives you a glimpse into our school and the assurance that we are a totally committed and a family oriented team who strive to deliver the best within their students and community. 2018 – Exams! Cheerleading competitions! Festivals! Moving towards our next show! It will be a busy year!
