Job Title: Global Digital Editor (8-month Job Holder: New post contract)

Job Location: Haywards Heath Department: Communications, UK Funding and Marketing Reports to: Global Content and Brand Manager

Responsible for: Freelance Digital Marketers

JOB PURPOSE: Briefly describe the overall purpose or function of the job  Manage day-to-day digital content (website, email marketing and social media) for the USA and Ireland fundraising teams.  Support the Global Content and Brand Manager with broader digital content and brand support across all international fundraising teams.  Contribute to Sightsavers’ new Global Digital Strategy through digital planning activities as part of the digital stakeholder team. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: In a series of brief statements describe the principal accountabilities of the job, i.e. specify activities and end results. Rank % of Time 1 30% Website: . Update USA and Ireland’s website content using relevant content generated by UK team. . Source, write, produce and update the USA and Ireland’s website content with localised content. . Update Ireland’s Gift of sight microsite (new products/prices) and produce campaign emails. 2 20% Email marketing: . Manage the implementation of the USA and Ireland’s email programme, including working with external copywriters as required. - Writing copy for emails and e-newsletters. - Organising approvals. - Managing data selections and segmentation. - Sending out test mail and emails to supporters. - Updating website and facebook as appropriate. - Liaising with database manager to update supporter records on progress. 3 20% Social Media:

. Use relevant UK and International posts to generate fresh Irish / USA specific posts for Facebook / Twitter management (once per day / 1-2 hours). 4 30% Processes and Support: . Support the Global Content and Brand Manager with broader digital content and brand support across all international fundraising teams. . As part of a digital stakeholder team, take part in relevant activities to contribute to new global digital strategy. . Oversee the application for Google grants and managing the Google ad words campaign for GOS. . Compile monthly email results and web analytics to inform future activities. . Respond to webmail on an ad-hoc basis according to fluctuations in seasonal trends and campaign activity . Manage purchase orders for any external suppliers linked to digital activity. . Manage internal/external relationships, i.e. teams members and digital agencies, where necessary.

JOBHOLDER ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: In a series of brief statements identify the essential knowledge, skills and behaviours required.

Knowledge (Education & Related Experience):  University degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience.  Substantial hands-on digital editorial / marketing or journalism experience.  Significant experience working with web and email based CMS platforms.  Proven track record in producing and commissioning content for digital channels (e.g. websites, email, social media channels ((Facebook, Twitter, etc.)) and blogs.)  Knowledge and experience of SEO optimisation and producing accessible digital content.  Experience managing external agencies / internal clients & stakeholders.  Experience interpreting and monitoring analytics for web and social media.

Skills (Special Training or Competence):  Strong understanding of social media best practice and ability to translate that into day-to- day work.  Fluent in search engine optimization.  Excellent digital copywriting skills.  Proven track record in utilising a variety of multimedia techniques to make case studies engaging via digital channels.  Good analytical skills with ability to monitor and evaluate campaign performance including knowledge of at least one major analytics provider.  Ability to produce reports to be distributed to multiple levels of stakeholders.  Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, multitask, prioritize deadlines, work independently and take initiative.  Creatively minded with strong business acumen.  A passion for all things digital is essential.  Basic HTML, photoshop and video editing desirable.
