Student Google Account Login Information

Student Google Account Login Changes for the 2014-15 School Year!

Student Google Login Information: (All RPS students have educational Google accounts @isd535.org)

o Students log into their Google account using their 7-digit student I.D. number and their district computer password.

Google login (Example): [email protected] Initial Google login Password : school.1

Middle and High School Students: You must FIRST login on a district computer and change your computer password BEFORE you can login to your Google account. The initial Google login password is "school.1" (no quotes). You will be asked to change the password on the initial login. The student should change the password to their district computer password. The Google account login password will then automatically sync with their district computer password anytime there is a computer password change. Password sync will make it easier for students and teachers and will help to eliminate Google account password resets.

Elementary Students: The password for all elementary students is the generic password that is set for their school. Elementary students are NOT required to change their passwords.

Student Google Gmail Address:

o The student Google Gmail address will still continue to follow the Skyward name key format. Students can look up their Google Gmail address in Skyward Student Access under the Student Information tab.

(Example: Student Name - Mary Rochester Gmail address: [email protected])

Can’t login to your Google Account?-(Switch your browser to Chrome or Firefox)

If you cannot login to your Google account with either school.1 or your computer login password, teachers, staff, and students can do a reset on the student’s desktop and send the password to sync with the Google account. The Gmail Password reset option is located under the gray Applications tab, located at the top of the 535net page.

1. First check and see that your name is correct – Your district username ID# @isd535.org (No spaces and the only dot is between the 5 and the o). 2. Go to the 535net page. 3. Open Applications from the menu and select Gmail Password reset. 4. Enter your current district password in Step 3. 5. Click Submit-the tool will send this password out to the Google account. 6. It may take up to 10 minutes for the change to propagate through our Google domain. 7. Call the Help Desk at 8-5555 if you are still unable to login.

 Is located on the computer desktop school menu. It will look similar to this, but with your school colors.

 Home Access: the URL is https://mail.google.com/a/isd535.org

 Students may ALSO login to their Gmail directly from www.Google.com

 Once students are logged into their Gmail account, it should be noted that this is a fully functional Google account! Students can immediately start using Google Drive, Google Calendar, Books, Picasa, Earth, Sketchup and more. Teachers: Teachers can print their students’ Gmail addresses by going to Skyward Educator Access > My Gradebooks (select a class) > Reports > Class Information > Class Rosters. Run report #900 in a gradebook main page.

Internet Acceptable Use Policy: The rules outlined in the Internet Acceptable Use Policy apply to the use of any e-mail account on district computers or the use of any district e-mail account on a non-district computer.
