You will choose one of five project options to complete. Details of each project are shown on the back side of this sheet.

Choices: #1 – Castle Project #2 – A Knight’s Tale #3 – Historical Investigation #4 – Theatrical Performance #5 – Graphic Novel

This project will be due on Monday November 10 th.

This assignment will be completed at home and not at school.

I have informed my parents of this project, as evidenced by their signature on the line below: x______#1 Castle Project (Model) Individual or Pairs

(a) Create a three-dimensional model of a castle RUBRIC for Castle Project: Includes and labels all castle parts: 20 points b) Use materials including food, paper, cardboard, wood, stone. Construction and Neatness 10 points You may NOT use legos or other building blocks. Ask your teacher for approval of other materials. Classroom Presentation: 10 points c) Your castle must contain: 4 Walls, drawbridge, towers, gate, keep, moat (you do not need to use real water), inner curtain, inner ward, great hall, bailey, battlements, chapel, and lastly you must give the castle a suitable name. d) Your castle will be presented to the class and you will explain your reasons for the design and how it was built.

#2: A Knight’s Tale (Story) Individual

(a) Write a story taking place in the RUBRIC for A Knight’s Tale: Middle Ages featuring a knight Includes proper vocabulary terms: 15 points Demonstrates understanding of life in the Middle Ages: 20 points (b) Your story must be at least three pages long Meets Minimum Length Requirements: 10 points Spelling, Grammar, Formatting and Neatness: 5 points (c) Typed papers should be double spaced, size 12, times new roman font, with default margins.

(d) The story must include at least 5 of the following terms: feudalism, vassal, serf, page, squire, knight, dubbing, chivalry

#3: Historical Investigation (Report) Individual

(a) Write a report on one concept in the Middle Ages. RUBRIC for Historical Investigation: Demonstrates understanding of life in the Middle Ages: 20 points (b) Topics Allowed: Knights, Castles, Meets Minimum Length Requirements: 10 points Life in the Middle Ages Spelling, Grammar, Formatting and Neatness: 10 points

(c) Your story must be at least three pages long

(d) Typed papers should be double spaced, size 12, times new roman font, with default margins.

#4: Theatrical Performance (Video) Group

(a) Perform and record a skit detailing life in the Middle Ages RUBRIC for Theatrical Performance: Includes proper vocabulary terms: 10 points (b) Completed videos will be shown to the class Demonstrates understanding of life in the Middle Ages: 20 points Meets Length Requirements: 10 points (c) If you choose to do this project, you must get your skit approved by Me.

(d) The skit must include at least five vocabulary terms from this unit.

(e) The skit must be between 5 and 10 minutes long and it must be video-taped and recorded on VHS or DVD.

(f) Up to three students may work together on this video project. Students will share the same grade. If you decide to do this project, choose your partners wisely.

#5: Graphic Novel (Art work) Individual (a) Must have at least 5 pages, no smaller than 8.5 x 11 sheets of paper. RUBRIC for Graphic Novel: Demonstrates understanding of life in the (b) Must be in color and done neatly..
