Of Mice and Men Vocabulary Assignment

While reading Of Mice and Men, we will focus on learning the group of vocabulary words listed below. Each student will be responsible for teaching one word to the class when that word appears in the text.

Procedure:

1. You will be randomly assigned one word from the list below.

2. On an 8 ½ x 11 sheet of unlined paper, you will create an “ad” for your word which includes:

a. the word (bolded or highlighted)

b. the sentence from Of Mice and Men in which the word appears

c. speech part of the word (noun, verb, adjective, adverb)

d. definitio in your own words (when there are multiple definitions, choose the definition that

relates to the sentence in the book)

e. a minimum of two synonyms

f. a minimum of two antonyms

g. an ORIGINAL sentence using the word (“original” means you created it yourself)

h. a visual relating to the word (include credit if taken from a website)

3. You will be given one class period to work on this assignment. All “ads” will be due before we begin reading the book.
