This Guide has been prepared by the MCR Committee and answers some of the questions you might have about College life as a New Graduate (‘Fresher’). We encourage you to read this Guide before you arrive in Oxford. Important documents: In addition to bringing your passport, you should bring some spare passport photos, copies of bank statements, letters relating to scholarship awards, and the letter(s) of confirmation of a place on your course from the University and Magdalen – these will be needed on your arrival (e.g. see page 3 about opening a bank account). Formal dress: For occasions like matriculation, examinations and graduation, when ‘Subfusc’ is worn, you can chose to wear either (a) a dark suit, white shirt and white bow tie or (b) a dark trousers or skirt, dark tights/stockings, and a white blouse (see page 4 for more details).
