JAZZ LAB BAND II Carl Woideck is an instructor of jazz, rock, and blues music histories at the University of Oregon, where he began teaching in 1982. He Oclopaca Duke Ellington holds a Master of Science degree (interdisciplinary: music, educa- tion, and ethnic studies) and a Bachelor of Music degree (composi- tion) from the University of Oregon. Woideck is also a professional Koko Duke Ellington saxophonist and longtime jazz radio broadcaster.

Idit Shner is assistant professor of jazz and classical saxophone. Shner UO JAZZ FACULTY COMBO holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Oklahoma City University, a master’s degree in music education from University of Central Caravan / Duke Ellington Oklahoma, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of North Texas. She joined the UO music faculty in 2005. Duke Ellington Steve Owen is a Philip H. Knight professor of music and director of jazz studies at the University of Oregon. A nationally known com- Heaven Duke Ellington poser, arranger, soloist, clinician, and educator, Owen received his B.Mus. from North Texas State University and a M.Mus. degree from Duke Ellington the University of Northern Colorado. Prior to joining the UO faculty in 1988 he was assistant director of jazz studies at the University of Texas at Arlington. OREGON JAZZ ENSEMBLE Mike Denny is an instructor of jazz guitar. He has been on the UO In A Mellow Tone Duke Ellington faculty since 1995 and the Lane Community College faculty since 1994. Denny also works as a clinician for jazz events and seminars / Duke Ellington at the University of Oregon. Tyler Abbott is an instructor of double bass, jazz bass, and music Jack The Bear Duke Ellington theory. He maintains an active performance schedule as an orches- tral bassist, chamber musician, jazz bassist, clinician, and soloist, Take The A Train Duke Ellington and performing throughout the region and nation with some of the finest the Delta Rhythm Boys musicians in both the classical and jazz music worlds.

* * * Josh Hakanson pursued collegiate music studies as a student at the University of Oregon and holds a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies.
