All students are invited to participate in the 2017 FLAVS poster session and competition, which will take place on Monday, March 6th at the Student Union of the University of Central Florida in Orlando. The competition will cut across all fields represented at the meeting, and will include a monetary award for a select winner(s). To partake in the poster session and competition, students should submit an abstract using the format guidelines described below. Please clearly indicate if the abstract is for the student poster competition. Only electronic submissions will be accepted. The deadline for abstract submission is February 20th, 2017. Attendance at the poster award ceremony on Monday evening, March 6 th will be required in order to receive the awards. The poster session and competition is part of the Annual Joint Symposium & Exhibition of the Florida Chapter of the AVS Science and Technology Society (FLAVS) and that Florida Society for Microscopy (FSM), which will host technical sessions and an equipment exhibit. Students are encouraged to participate in the technical sessions on Renewable Energy, Thin Films and 2D materials, Catalysis and Surface Science, and Nano- and Biomaterials. REGISTRATION IS FREE for the event but pre-registration is recommended. Register on-line by following the “Registration” link at https://www.avs.org/Chapters/Florida/Registration. A limited number of pre-registered competing students from Florida Colleges and Universities will receive financial support for travel expenses (to the extent possible). Print title in Arial 14 pt bold on the first line centered, all upper case, (except chemical symbols). Leave one blank line, and then type in Arial 12 pt, centered, the names of the authors using upper and lower case as needed. The presenter’s name should be underlined. Leave another blank line, and type each author's affiliation and postal address. Leave two blank lines and type abstract text, in Arial 11 pt, with one blank line between paragraphs. The body of the abstract text is limited to 200 words. Leave another blank line and indicate student status (Graduate, Undergraduate) and e-mail for contact. If graduate, also indicate poster category as specified above. Or use template provided in the next page.
