Parent Information Parents,

This week, we will wrap up our testing on Tuesday. Students have finished their state testing, and they are working on their SRI and SMI tests. We continue our unit on weather. Students will be working on creating their structure or tool to protect them from a particular severe weather. In math, we continue on our unit of measurement and time. We are currently working on elapsed time.

Homework: I have been asked if we have homework. Due to the rigorous nature or our state testing, I decided to give students a break from homework and spelling lists. However, I have told them that they should be working on memorizing their facts. Those that are finished with their facts, should be working on Front Row Ed. Students should also be spending some time working on reading. They should either be reading for 15-20 minutes, working on RAZ Kids, or Working on Scholastic Test Ready. Our blog is a free blog. Students are free to continue practicing their writing skills by writing a blog about whatever topic they would like.

Upcoming Events: June 2nd: Field Day-thanks in advance for volunteering and/or donating an item. You are welcome to show up from 8:45-12:00 if you would like to volunteer your time to help with Field Day.

June 5th: Please have students bring in a large bag with handles, so that they can take home their work and personal items.

June 6th: I usually do one last “big” ticket event. However, to make it a success, I am asking for donations for our treasure box/store.

June 7th: We will be washing desks. Please make sure that students wear an old shirt over their clothes (or rash guard) and bring a towel. They may bring a change of clothes, since they will be getting wet. Please consider having them wear shoes that can get wet. (No bathing suits, please)

June 8th: Students will be asked to bring in a board game (please no electronic games). End of the year party: You may send in goodie bags or treats. I sent home a list of items needed for the end of the year activities. I have received slips with duplicate items marked. I will have our room parent assign items and let you know what is needed. Please do not buy anything until you have been notified. Thank you for your donations.

It will be a Hawaiian theme party. Students may wear Hawaiian attire.

June 9th: Last Day of School!!! Wear your pajamas. We will be watching movies. (Early Out)

Have a great week,

Mrs. Hewitson
