AGENDA & OUTLINE New Member Orientation Tuesday August 29, 2017 at 2:00pm Eastern

Purpose: Conduct an introductory orientation for new ASPHN members that imparts the most basic and critical information about the Association of State Public Health Nutritionists.

Why is this important? To give new members an overview of the association and the benefits of being a member

Outcomes: 1. Recognize basic structure of ASPHN and how it fits within the Association of State & Territorial Health Officials 2. Describe the benefits of being an ASPHN member 3. Locate contact information and resources available on the ASPHN website 4. Review the Association’s financial and legal status, cooperative agreements, and dues structure 5. Describe the Association’s committees and recognize the Association’s Councils 6. Assess and evaluate orientation

Join the Policy Committee. Contact Michelle Futrell, Tiffani Grant, or Jennifer Young for more information.

Join the Membership Communication and Outreach Committee. Contact Terrell Brock or Janelle Clepper if you are interested.

Join the Collaboration Committee. Contact Pat Simmons or Shana Patterson to get involved.

Get involved with the Fruit & Vegetable Nutrition Council. Contact Ashley Davis or Sandy Perkins to join.

Work on a project of the MCH Nutrition Council. Contact Leslie Lewis or Sandy Perkins to get involved with this council.

Join the Obesity Prevention Nutrition Council. Contact Helen Brown or Sandy Perkins to be a part of this ASPHN group.
