I. Drought Work Vs. WAWG Work (All)

Meeting Minutes WAWG for March 19, 2014 1:00-3:00 PM

I. Drought work vs. WAWG work (All)

Drought Task Force has put together a water agency boundary dataset from existing water agency datasets from across the State including those used by our WAWG. The preliminary work seems to meet the same GIS standards we have been working towards but, have been combined quickly to meet the current drought work needs. No one knows what the final product will look like, when they will be done or whether their efforts would result in a good starting point for our work.

Caution was expressed about changing what the WAWG is doing in lieu of the drought teams work since their work was specific to their immediate need.

There is speculation and some disagreement as to what the end product is and how this will help with the WAWG.

Joel suggested Siran [& the WAWG] arrange a meeting with drought group (Greg Smith, Christina Boggs, et.al.) to discuss what they’re doing and how WAWG can benefit from what they’ve done.

II. Outline a new workflow diagram (All) All discussion will be forwarded to a later meeting.

III. Action Items (Siran)

1. Siran will arrange a meeting with Greg Smith & drought team to discuss the water agency dataset they are working on.

2. Siran will provide follow-up from the meeting with drought team and set a date for future WAWG meeting.

IV. Action Items (All)

Page 1 of 2 Please forward any questions to Siran whether you’re planning to attend or not. Talking Points for a meeting with drought work team:

 What is the goal of the drought team’s work?

 When will drought team be done?

 What will it look like?

 What data standards?

 Projections?

 Available to who when it’s done?

 Will there be additional metadata to what’s already been provided?

 Agency ID how is it generated?

 How are you tracking it back to where the data came from?

V. Next Meeting

Next meeting will be announced after a meeting with the Drought Team folks is arranged.
