Family service is every Tuesday morning at 9.10am and we welcome all families to come and join us.
PE sessions are on a Monday afternoon with Miss James and on a Friday morning with Mrs Ashton. Your child must wear a PE kit on these days. Please bring your child’s PE kit on a Monday and then take it home each Friday.
Library books and Reading books are changed every Friday. There are several children who have not returned or changed their library book in a while. Please can you ensure your child returns their book weekly. Thank you
Star of the week! This week we have chosen Lulu Crabbe for being our super star of the week! Lulu has been chosen for her wonderful role-play.
Our Class Learning
The children began celebrating Christmas Monday and they all enjoyed the Christmas learning together morning. They made Christmas decorations which they then hung on the Christmas tree in the hall in the afternoon assembly. The children have been working really hard learning their lines and practising the Christmas performance. We will enjoy seeing you all there next Friday at 10.30am. Tickets are available from the office.
We have also been practising to write simple captions and sentences using photographs of bears. We have been using talk for writing which encourages children to think of a sentence, say a sentence, write a sentence and check their sentence. This helps children remember what they are writing. The children enjoyed writing facts about Bears and these are going to be put in our class information book.
We also continued learning how to name and describe 2D flat and 3D solid shapes. The children were learning how to make shape pictures and sort shapes according to their different properties. Batley Parish J I N C of E School Reception Newsletter Friday 2nd December 2016 Finally, we have also begun learning about how the brain works and the importance of practising when learning a new skill. This links closely with our characteristics of learning which teaches children how to be a Stick-o-saurus and stick to their tasks, an Ask-a-raptor and to ask questions to find out information, a T ry-a-tops and keep persisting when challenges are hard. We have begun to learn how neurons connect in the brain when we learn something new and that how practising helps our brain to remember. We also have a new class motto of ‘I can’t do it yet!’ which helps children understand the importance of trying and not giving up.
