New Business Welcome to our new Board Members! – Shirley has agreed to lead our diversity efforts. Loretta will fill our membership role. Announcement – President Elect – Kristi Cellitti SHAPE document review – SHAPE due 1/31/2016 o As part of our SHAPE submission we will need to submit the 2015 financial results, our membership numbers. o Historically, we have conducted a bylaw review as part of our SHAPE process. o We continue to meet the requirements of Section 1. o As part of our membership initiative we have increased our relationship with the Chambers of Commerce (COC). The group discussed advertising our group in the COC publications. It was also discussed to invite a COC member to a meeting. o We also continue to support a Workforce Readiness initiative. This year we added a second event in our relationship with Shikellamy. o Additional initiatives include our partnership with the Women’s Symposium and Allenwood prison outreach as part of your diversity and outreach. o We have the initiatives required by Section 2. o We also fulfill the requirements of Section 3. Including supporting the SHRM Foundation, SHRM certification, Board participation in SHRM, outreach and collaboration with SU as part of our outreach and other SHRM initiatives. It was suggested that in lieu of a speaker gift, if the speaker indicates no preference we could give that gift to the SHRM Foundation. The Philadelphia SHRM sent out a request for a chapter to partner with them in organizing a Symposium at the end of March. Based on the geographic area, the group was not certain this was a good match for us. Rita motioned that we decline the opportunity to partner. Maureen seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Career Link requested the opportunity to present their School Youth program to our chapter. The program solicits volunteers to open their workplace to tours, allow youth to shadow in the workplace and participate in a summer work program, job fairs and other activities to support youth. The question was raised as to if this was solicitation and therefore potentially a violation of our bylaws. It was suggested that prior to the start of each program we could allow the opportunity for members to make announcements for the good of the group. The Career Link request could fall within that. Marcia made a motion that we start with the next program to begin a few minutes early to allow for brief announcements at the beginning of the program. Karen seconded and all were in favor. With this motion, we will decline the request to have Career Link present, but would allow them to make a brief announcement.
Secretary (Pollard) Maureen moved to accept the minutes as written. Karen seconded and all approved. Treasurer (Long) Andy will email the Treasurer’s Report. One major expense noted was the annual dues for the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce dues ($225). Membership (Hartley) – not reviewed.
