3. Approval of Minutes

The minutes of the meeting dated 12th January 2017 were agreed as an accurate record. Proposed by J. Beksa and seconded by B. Garbutt.

4. Matters Arising

ACTION: S. Broughton to send the ‘Did Not Attend’ notice to B. Garbutt for displaying outside the village hall in Grassmoor.

5. Treasurers Report

H. Johnson sent apologies to the meeting, agenda item deferred to the next meeting.

6. PRG/ PPG Events

S. Broughton forwarded an email to all members on the 3rd March 2017 regarding a ‘PPG Engagement and Awareness Event’ scheduled for Friday 17th March 2017 held at The Whitworth Centre.

7. Surgery News

Dr M. Wayman confirmed that the Royal Primary Care takeover is still going ahead and confirmed for 1st April 2017. S. Broughton explained that the TUPE of staff has been delayed but a date has not been confirmed as yet.

Dr Bodahandi De Silva has extended his locum contract with the surgery from March 2017 until August 2017; he will be working eight sessions per week across both sites.

The surgery now offers patients the option to see Dr Liz Bean for implant fitting and removal; the patient would need an initial consultation with a GP prior to booking into the implant clinic. 8. Patient Complaints

S. Broughton informed members that since the last meeting there have been a total of four complaints; three were written and one was a verbal complaint. All four were administrative complaints and mostly relating to the appointment system. S. Broughton explained that over the past few months there has been staff sickness which is the reason for patient appointment being moved or cancelled.

9. Small Grant for Waiting Room

B. Garbutt and I. Barlow applied to the Big Local and successfully sourced a small grant to purchase suitable items for the waiting room at the Grassmoor site. B. Garbutt suggested the money is used to purchase a year’s supply of water for the dispenser in the waiting room, all members agreed and S. Broughton thanked the members for their support.

10. Any Other Business

I. Barlow noticed that Grassmoor held a pre booked clinic in place of a walk in clinic and wondered if this was going to be a regular occurrence; ACTION: S. Broughton to confirm with the rota clerk and feedback at the next meeting. M. Wayman thought it was a one off.

K. Mark wanted to know if the practice offers support for patients under the age of 14 with mental health symptoms because patients can wait some time before seen by the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). M. Wayman acknowledged that the service from secondary care is not ideal; the referral is sent to the Multi Agency Team (MAT) who then forwards the referral to the Child Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). ACTION: S. Broughton to send K. Mark’s contact details to the surgeries Advanced Mental Health Practitioner, Jon Boden to discuss further.

G. Burbutt asked if there is a delay in booking for a blood test; S. Broughton confirmed that due to staff sickness patient appointments were cancelled and rebooked at a later date. The Phlebotomist will be retiring at the end of the month; an advert is currently published on the NHS jobs website, In the meantime, patients can either book the next available appointment or attend the walk in service at the Walton Hospital on a Monday and Tuesday.

The Patient Participation Group Annual General Meeting (AGM) is scheduled for Thursday 11th May 2017 at Grassmoor for a 7pm start, followed by the regular meeting scheduled at 7.30pm start.
