Blaine Basketball Volunteer Next Meeting: Wed., Oct. 9th Meeting Minutes 6:30PM at Blaine Basketball Volunteers: September 11, 2013 Majestic Oaks Current board members: *Brad Barthels, President *Paula Baker, Vice President *Lisa Newberger, Secretary *Julie Barthels, Concession Coordinator *Dave Leo, Website Coordinator *Scott Scherer *Kelly Scherer

Brad Barthels, President, opened the meeting at 6:35 p.m.

August minutes were reviewed and approved.

Motion was made and carried to accept the minutes.

Treasurer’s Report  $10,310 check to deposit from Midwest 3-on-3  $17.31 for expenses  Balance of $5,951.63 (ending August 30h)  Motion made and carried to accept the Treasurer’s report.

3 on 3 Tournament (Coach Arzdorf)  $400 cost to use Roosevelt (will try to avoid this expense next year).  Additional fees for Midwest 3 on 3 staff assisting overseeing the courts.  Received check for $10,310 for tournament.

Fundraising  Program and Ads Committee  Updated letter for soliciting donations. Dave will be listed as contact.  Offer “good luck line discount” for grandparents ($20)  Brad to contact Heat Basketball (1/2 page), TCF Bank (new) about an ad.  Julie to contact Chili (1/2 page), Corey Chase Scholarship ($200 black & white full page), David Banks (1/8 page), Broadway Pizza (new)  Lisa to contact Build and Balance (1/2 page)  Tony to contact: Twin Cities Electric (1/2 page), Cub on 65 (new)  Kelly and Scott to contact: Yogurt Sundae (1/2 page), Taho (1/2 page), Chanticlear (new)  Dave to contact: Car Wash Company (full color, full page), MDB (1/2 page and website), Channel 15 (new)  Include note with minutes asking parents to place an ad or solicit for ads.  Full page color with free website($300) ½ page ($100) ¼ page ($50), good luck lines ($25)  Website advertising an additional $50 except full page color ad.  Committee: Dave, Julie, Tony (but all board members encouraged to try to sell three ads)  Goal is to have all ads sold by end of October  Shoot-a-thon (Paula and Kelly)  Saturday, Dec. 28th am (9:00-Noon) with alumni game in afternoon.  Incentive prize possibility of making donation target getting out of conditioning for a practice.  Prizes and goals to be determined.  Water, juice and muffins  Collect donations ahead of time (flat fee donation)

 Other Fundraisers to discuss in the future:  Julie Barthels will check with Buffalo Wild Wings (Mondays and Wednesdays evenings are possibilities)  Lisa Neppl on Chipotle (dates are secure, just need to know practice schedule-- Monday, Dec. 16th is preferred date)

Special Events and Booklet  Special Game Nights  Parent Information Night should be as early as possible in the season.  Youth Night (Friday, Dec. 13th vs. Anoka)  Fan Appreciation/Sponsor Night (Tues, Jan. 14th vs. Armstrong)  Tiger Take Out Night (Thurs., Dec. 5 vs. Coon Rapids)  Parent Night (Tues, Jan. 28th vs. Elk River)  BBBC tournament is Jan. 17-19  Senior Night (last home game – Feb. 21 vs. Maple Grove)  Banquet (Julie will contact with Majestic Oak for March 23rd or 30th.)  Senior Booklet  Will be incorporated into the game program

Other Business  Uniforms/Travel Gear  Coach would like to order new varsity blue uniforms if possible.  Current blues are six years old.  $2,069 for 20 uniforms last year  New freshmen uniforms are also needed.  $60-70/ set for 22 freshman reversible uniforms ($1500)  Need to order freshman uniforms in October to get by beginning of season.  Motion made and approved for purchasing new blue varsity uniforms .  Motion made and approved to make the decision at October meeting on purchasing freshman uniforms and/or travel gear after pricing estimates are gathered.

 501c3 Update  Brad still working on this.

Next Meeting Dates:  Wednesday, October 9th at 6:30 PM at Majestic.
