METAPHOR AND ARCHITECTURE

If ART is an expression, a communication of a thought or an idea...then if architecture is an art-form and not just construction, it too must be expressive. How can a form hold meaning?

METAPHOR: a symbol that transfers meaning from an original object to another object by means of implicit comparison, analogy, parable or allegory.

Khufu's pyramid at Giza, Egypt

The great pyramids of Giza have stood for more than 4,000 years. They have become a metaphor for strength and endurance. http://www.eyelid.co.uk/pyramid3.htm

Reminiscent of robotics and advanced technology this building becomes a symbol of progress and industry.
