Selected Quranic Verses about Jesus, Son of Mary

He was not but a servant whom We favored and set up as an example for the Children of Israel. (43:59)

They say, "The Merciful [God] has taken [for Himself] a son." You have done something atrocious! The heavens almost burst apart with it, and the earth splits open and the mountains collapse in devastation that they attribute a son to the Merciful. It is not fitting for the Merciful to have a son. There is no one in the heavens and earth but that he comes to the Most Merciful as a servant. (19:88-93)

Say [O Muhammad], ""If the Merciful had a son, I would be the first of his worshippers." Exalted is the Lord of Heaven and Earth, Lord of the Throne, above what they ascribe [to Him]! Leave them in speculation and amusement until they face their Day which they are promised [ie, Judgment Day]. (43:81)

When God said, "Jesus, son of Mary, have you told people 'Take me and my mother as two gods along with God [Alone]'?" He said, "Glory be to You! It is not my place to say what I have no right to say. If I had said it, You would have known it already – You know what is in my mind, while I do not know what is in Yours. You are the Knower of Unseen things. I have told them nothing except what You commanded me: 'Worship God, my Lord and your Lord.'" (5:116-117)

He said, "I am God's servant. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet. He has made me blessed wherever I am, and enjoined upon me prayer and alms as long as I live, and made me dutiful towards my mother; He has not made a wretched tyrant. And peace is on me the day I was born, and on the day I shall die, and on the day when I am raised to life again!" Such was Jesus, the son of Mary. [It is] a true statement over which they are still disputing. It does not befit God to have a son. Exalted is He! When He decrees an affair, He only says to it, "Be!" and it is. (19:30-35)

O People of the Scripture [ie Jews and Christians], do not exaggerate in your religion and say nothing but the Truth about God: the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, was but God's messenger and His word which He directed to Mary, and a soul [proceeding] from him. Believe in God and His messengers and do not say "three." Refrain; it is better for you. God is but one god; Exalted is he above having a son! To Him belongs whatever is in heaven and whatever is on Earth. And sufficient is God as a disposer of affairs. (4:171)

Those who say that God is Christ, the son of Mary, have disbelieved. Christ [himself] said, "Children of Israel, worship God, my Lord and your Lord." Indeed, he who associates others with God – God has forbidden him Paradise, and his refuge is the Fire. And there are not for the wrongdoers any helpers. Those who say, "God is the third of three" have disbelieved. There is no deity except one God. If they do not desist from what they are saying, painful torment will afflict those of them who disbelieve. So will they not repent to God and seek His forgiveness? God is Forgiving, Merciful. (5:72-75).

You will find that the people most violently hostile towards those who believe are the Jews and those who associate [others with God]; while you will find the nearest of them in affection to the believers are those who say, "We are Christians." That is because among them are priests and monks and because they are not arrogant. (5:82) JESUS IN PROPHETIC TRADITIONS

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, son of Mary (Jesus) will shortly descend amongst you people (Muslims) as a just ruler and will break the Cross and kill the pig and abolish the Jizya (a tax taken from the non-Muslims, who are in the protection, of the Muslim government). Then there will be abundance of money and no-body will accept charitable gifts. Sahih Bukhari Volume 3, Book 34, Number 425:

Narrated Abu Huraira: I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "I am the nearest of all the people to the son of Mary, and all the prophets are paternal brothers, and there has been no prophet between me and him (i.e. Jesus)." Sahih Bukhari Volume 4, Book 55, Number 651:

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "Both in this world and in the Hereafter, I am the nearest of all the people to Jesus, the son of Mary. The prophets are paternal brothers; their mothers are different, but their religion is one." Sahih Bukhari Volume 4, Book 55, Number 652:

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (pbuh) said: There is no prophet between me and him, that is, Jesus (pbuh). He will descend (to the earth). When you see him, recognize him: a man of medium height, reddish fair, wearing two light yellow garments, looking as if drops were falling down from his head though it will not be wet. He will fight the people for the cause of Islam. He will break the cross, kill swine, and abolish jizya. Allah will perish all religions except Islam. He will destroy the Antichrist and will live on the earth for forty years and then he will die. The Muslims will pray over him. Sunan Abu Dawud Book 37, Number 4310:
