Course Description:

The focus of the Integrated Mathematics II course is on quadratic expressions, equations, and functions; comparing their characteristics and behavior to those of linear and exponential relationships from Integrated Mathematics I. Topics of study will be comprised of 12 units aligned to the Common Core State Standards:

Unit 1: Exploring Algebraic and Geometric Relationships Unit 2: Justification and Similarity Unit 3: Probability and Trigonometry Unit 4: Factoring and more Trigonometry Unit 5: Quadratic Functions Unit 6: More Right Triangles Unit 7: Proof and Conditional Probability Unit 8: Polygons and Circles Unit 9: Modeling and Functions Unit 10: Circles and More Unit 11: Solids Unit 12: Counting and Closure

Student Supplies Checklist:

___3-ring binder ___Scientific Calculator ($0.99 at 99cent store) ___Ruler (Inches and Centimeters) ___Protractor ___Pencils, erasers ___Lined Paper ___Highlighters ___Colored pens

Restroom Policy: You will not be allowed to use the restroom until you have completed all classwork. Use the restroom during breaks.

Absence Policy: You, YES YOU, are responsible for making up any work that you missed and copying any lecture notes. This means that you find out on edmodo and from a neighbor what you need to do and get any needed handouts from the assignment shelf!

Late Work, Absences, Make-up Work: In order to prepare you for high school, college, and beyond, it is important that you keep on top of your assignments. Late work policy:  Any work that is not handed in at the beginning of class the day it is due will be considered late and you will lose 1 point.  I will only accept late work if it is completed and turned in during tutoring hours.  You have 1 weeks to turn in a late assignment.  If your work is late because of an excused absence you will receive full credit for the assignment.  Tests and quizzes must be made up the day you return to school or you will not receive full credit. If you are gone for an extended period of time and are not prepared to be assessed upon returning to school, please see me to make special arrangements the day you return to school.

Homework/Class work:  Students must work from the start of class to the end of class. Period.  ALL WORK MUST BE SHOWN IN ORDER TO RECEIVE CREDIT!  If you didn’t complete your homework/classwork, you will be required to attend tutoring in order for me to accept it. Tests and Quizzes  Unit Tests o Must have all classwork and homework completed to be eligible to take the test. o If not completed on the day of the test you will have to finish the incomplete work during class time and take the test afterschool on a tutoring day, will call parent/guardian.  Test/Quiz re-takes (done within one week of original assignment date afterschool on a tutoring day.) o Correct the problems that you want to re-test on, using “Request to Re-test” Form. Follow instructions on the form. o Staple it to the original test/quiz . Turn in to me in tutoring. I will check it to see if you are ready to re-test. Make sure you bring your notes for the lesson you are re-taking the quiz/test for. This is required if you need further instruction.

Visible Cell Phone/Electronic Device Policy: This includes phones, i-pods, and computers. Note to Parents: Students are not allowed to answer phone calls or texts from a parent. In the event of an emergency, if you need to talk to your student call the main office at 909 -622-0699 and they will connect you to my room. 1st time: Your device will be taken and given to the Principal, and returned to you at end of school day. 2 or more times: Your device will be turned into the office for parent pick up.

Tutoring Policies If you have been assigned to tutoring, you must come prepared:  Students must bring their lecture notes and assignments. This is time for students to go over what has already been taught and ask clarifying questions, and then practice the techniques that have been taught with teacher help.  Students who don’t have their notes will first be assigned the task of copying the lecture notes and then they can receive help.  No shows will result in parent contact and students will not be eligible to retake assessment.

A 85-100% B 70-84% C 60-69% No Credit 0-59% (Fail)

Final Course Mark Percentage Bands

The SAE does NOT allow a D to be used as a final course mark because we are a college preparatory school and a D is not an acceptable grade for college preparatory course work. Parent/Student Syllabus Confirmation

I have reviewed the course introduction, grading scale, supplies needed, and classroom rules, for Ms. Cifuentes’ Integrated II - Mathematics class, with my student. I, and my student, understand and agree to obtain the necessary supplies and abide by the classroom policies and procedures as outlined in the syllabus. I understand that my student needs the following supplies: 3-ring binder with lined paper , pencils, paper, erasers, a scientific calculator, pencils, highlighter, colored pens, ruler and a protractor.
