Germantown Elementary School

Germantown Elementary School “Parent Tips” Everything parents and guardians need to know to begin a Cardinal’s day on the right foot…

 The school day begins at 9:15 am and ends at 4:15 pm  School doors open to students at 9:00 am.  Breakfast is served to K and 1 students in their classrooms in the annex beginning at 9:00 am. All K and 1 students report to their classrooms immediately upon entering campus.  Breakfast is served to students in grades 2 through 5 in the café beginning at 9:00 am. Students in grades 2 through 5 partaking in breakfast report to the cafeteria immediately upon entering campus. Students eat breakfast then report to class. Should students arrive late or not have finished their breakfast @ 9:12, they take their food with them and report to their classroom. It is our goal that all students are in class, ready to receive instruction @ 9:15 each morning.  Students not partaking in breakfast walk directly to class upon entering the building.  Buses and daycare vans load and unload in the semicircular drive in the front of the school between 8:45 and 9:45 am and 3:45 and 5:00 pm. Please note that this area is a fire lane. Any vehicles parked in this area at any time are subject to ticketing from the Germantown Police Department.  Parents and guardians driving children to school in cars may drop off and pick up children in one of two areas: the semicircular drive in front of the annex (car-rider line) or the north parking lot behind the fire station (parent meter).  GES welcomes parents and visitors when planned, appropriate, during meetings and our many collaboration efforts. It is what we do! For the safety and security of our students and staff, parents and visitors must always sign in at the front desk prior to entering the building. Parents and visitors without proper identification will be approached by staff and asked to do so.  The instructional day begins at 9:15 am. We greatly appreciate your respecting your student’s and our teachers’ time in the morning and during the instructional day by allowing your child to walk to class on their own and scheduling all meetings and conferences.  If you would like to send in a special treat for your child’s birthday please remember food items are NO LONGER allowed. Instead please consider sending in a sticker, pencil, notepad, book, etc for the class.
