DYSON DCO6 ROBOTIC VACUUM CLEANER
In July 2001 Dyson unveiled the world’s first robotic vacuum cleaner, DCO6. Eighteen months of home-trials followed and provided invaluable information for Dyson scientists and engineers to develop the concept further. Dyson is currently working on a new robot that will incorporate improved DCO6 technology and Root™ Cyclone cleaning power to deliver a truly autonomous alternative to manual vacuuming.
How DCO6 works:
As DCO6 is not programmed it ‘thinks’ for itself and therefore can clean any room that it is placed in
DCO6 cleans methodically and meticulously, it takes an efficient route covering the whole room without repetition. Using Dyson Cyclone technology, it will pick up as much as a Dyson Dual Cyclone, room after room after room.
DCO6 has over 70 sensors, which constantly feed data into the 3 on-board computers. Using this data it makes 10 decisions per second and will constantly re-adjust to navigate its way around a room.
Other Facts:
Dyson designed a new technology electric motor especially for DCO6. It has no carbon brushes, which means it doesn’t need a second filter and should last twice as long as a conventional motor.
DCO6 lets you turn the brush bar on and off, so you can vacuum both carpets and hard floors.
DCO6 can even tell you how it is feeling through the changing colours of its mood light.
DCO6 has an attachable hose for stairs and upholstery, which means that you can use it for all cleaning tasks in the home James Dyson said at the time of launch:
“The Dyson DCO6 does not need any programming. It cleans your home efficiently and is able to think for itself. It can provide the sort of methodical coverage that it would be difficult for a human to achieve. It is our first autonomous Dyson machine, developed by our 350-strong team of scientists and engineers.”
