LEAVENWORTH WINTER SPORTS CLUB Mission Statement Our purpose is to promote health, fitness, and fun through skiing and other winter sports by providing quality facilities, education, and activities to the community.

SKI PATROL / JOB DESCRIPTION

Department: Ski Hill Operations Employment Dates: Typically Early December – Early March (depending on length of season) Wages: $12.00 - $15.00/hr. DOE Status: Full or Part-Time, Seasonal Reports To: Ski Hill Operations Supervisor and General Manager

Description Summary This is a working hands-on position that is very guest service and risk management oriented. This position is responsible for providing a safe and fun environment and guest experience. This position provides rapid response rescue first-aid or other BLS functions until transfer of patient(s) to advanced care. Manages, maintains and documents terrain park functions. Perform all other duties and tasks as requested.

Essential Functions  Provide a safe, controlled and friendly guest and employee experience  Provide rapid response rescue first-aid and BLS until patient(s) is transferred to a higher level of care  Secure all accident scenes until the patient is removed  Maintain all first-aid supplies and inventories  Maintain all Ski Patrol rescue equipment  Document all incidents both minor and major and keep accurate records  Perform or assist in all accident investigations are requested  Provide on-going Skier Safety and Education to guests  Understand varying slope conditions and take appropriate action to provide a safe environment  Recognize and pro-actively mitigate un-safe conditions on slopes and with equipment or facilities  Immediately contact the Ski Hill Supervisor if unsafe conditions appear and cannot be mitigated  Communicate regularly with the Ski Hill Operations Supervisor regarding any safety issues.  Proactively implement risk management best practices prior to opening and during operations  Perform and document all Ski Patrol Daily Checks prior to and during for daily operation  Ensure that all required and operations signs are posted daily  Ensure and maintain all safety and fencing/maze structures  Assist in the remove appropriate fencing /maze structures at closing of operations to allow for grooming access and function  Assist and relieve Tow Operators as needed.  Stop the Tow activities until the scene is cleared before resuming operations  Operate all ski lifts in compliance with the LWSC Ski Hill Rope Tow Operations Manual, ANSI B-77.1 code and WA State lift inspection reports  Ensure that no non-approved sledding devices are used at Ski Hill  Adhere to MSDS requirements applicable to the department  Keep work areas clean, organized and neat  Stay in radio contact at all times during shift  Sign and turn-in weekly timecard to the Ski Hill Operations Supervisor Leavenworth Winter Sports Club Rev/2017 P.O. Terrain Park Responsibilities  Sets up, maintains and monitors terrain parks including signs, perimeter delineation, features, take-offs and landings  Prepares terrain parks for daily grooming operations  Performs, maintains and files terrain park daily operations logs and documents  Follows the duties and responsibilities of the Terrain Park Job Description  Monitors the parks for risks and hazards and mitigates those risks and hazards

Experience / Requirements  Enjoys being outside in an outdoor winter environment  OEC or EMT Certified  Current CPR Certified  Advanced skiing skills and able to ski /ride all-terrain in all conditions with loads up to 50 lbs  Strong risk management understanding and skills  Able to safely operate a snowmobile  Basic mechanical knowledge and skills  Able to detect abnormal tow and equipment mechanical sounds or conditions  Able to use good judgment and make quick sound decisions to prevent accidents or improve safety  Superior guest service skills including professional appearance and demeanor  Command of the English language both written and verbal  High School Graduate/GED minimum, College preferred

Physical Requirements  Stand and / or sit for extended periods, reach, walk, bend, stoop and lift  Shovel, rake and clear snow  Ascend and descend snow slopes, stairs and navigate uneven and or slippery terrain  Lift up to 100 lbs and carry over a distance  Tolerate hot/cold temperatures at times above 95 Degrees F or below 0 Degrees F

Working Conditions  Indoor / Outdoor including extreme temperatures and snow / ice in the winter months  Must be able to function effectively with minimum supervision  Noisy and fast-paced environment with adults, children and groups  Lots of guest interaction

Attendance  Show-up for work in a timely manner appropriately dressed for daily operations according to the operating schedule  Business operation schedules and levels are affected by the weather, requiring the ability for this position to maintain flexibility in the work schedule  This position’s work schedule will also include weekends, holidays, evenings and extra hours  Have reliable all-weather transportation
