PRESENT: Chair: Lisa Jackson BOARD MEMBERS: John Montgomery, Dan Lowery, Sara Nolan, Colby Hunter, Janie Reid, Cindy Willis. ABSENT: Simone Jones, Chequita Adams, Cooper Rainey STAFF: Andrew Simpson Guest: Hazel Waller, Councilor Alma Stokes.

OLD BUSINESS: 1. Minutes - The minutes for the Wednesday September 14 Board Meeting were discussed. Dan motioned to approve the minutes and Sara seconded. The vote was unanimous to accept the meetings as they read. 2. Appointment of Secretary - The appointment of a Secretary was made with Janie being appointed and Cindy being her deputy. 3. Financial Reports - The financial reports were reviewed and approved. 4. Volunteers for future Main Street Events - Andrew confirmed that the Lions Club would now be on board for future Movies in the Court House Lawn cooking hot dogs. Main Street will continue to partner with the Family Connection of Putnam County and the Ritz Carlton Recreation Dept.

NEW BUSINESS

3. Decoration of Downtown. Planters and Store Front Windows. Andrew stated that the design committee were taking care of the planters and that Putnam County High School art students would be painting various storefront windows.

4. Scarecrow Contest - Andrew gave an update on the Scarecrow contest, stating that with 24 entrants this was 6 more than last year.

5. Flags. Woodmen of the World donation. Flags only - Andrew confirmed that 40 American flags would be donated in time for being displayed in Veteran's Day.

C. Promotion. Eatonton Main Street Revitalizing Our Downtown P.O. Box 4384 Eatonton, GA 30124 706.749.9150 1. Movies in the Briar Patch - Goosebumps October 28. (Costume Competition) - The board voted unanimously not to host a Costume Competition this year.

2. Briar Patch Arts and Antiques Festival Saturday Oct. 29/Sponsor Banner Vote. - Janie made the motion, Dan seconded and the vote was unanimous to have a sponsor banner for the event.

3. Tailgating UGA/Florida Game October 29. TV Rental/World HIFI/Farmers. - Andrew talked about going to Milledgeville to see if he could recruit donations of televisions to show the game. Janie talked about a tailgating event in Jones County that Andrew could learn from and contact. Dan will talk to Kevin about having the Livery Stable doors open. The Livery Stable would be used in case of rain.

4. December 2. Movies on The Courthouse Lawn. The Polar Express. - Andrew mentioned that he was still trying to get a kids train for the event.

5. December 3. Christmas Festival/Holiday Parade/Decoration of residential home. - Janie talked about having a Miss Putnam County float and having Putnam County High School Miss War Eagle being the grand Marshall. All counties should be invited to the parade. There should be 2 or 3 bands which was reached as a general consensus of the board. Andrew said that he had booked Santa and was organizing a return of the Gazebo for Santa pictures. Janie asked that Andrew organize the decorating of residential homes having a flyer go in with the utility bill. The competition should also include the businesses downtown. The judges would be Colby, Lisa and Councilor Stokes. Yard Signs for the winners, first second and third. Both Residential and Business. There needs to be a committee for the parade, Lisa, Janie and all board members should be recruiting for the parade. The Board Members agreed that horses should be invited to take place in the parade but be at the back. Flyers needed to be made for the Parade to generate interest and participation. Veterans should be asked to participate as should antique cars according to the consensus of the board.

D. Economic Vitality 1. Prospects for downtown Eatonton. - Andrew was said to announce the death of Eatonton Main Street Revitalizing Our Downtown P.O. Box 4384 Eatonton, GA 30124 706.749.9150 Cheryl Culver. Ms. Culver ran Briar Patch Kids, and her daughter Lisa Blizzard owns it. Ms. Blizzard will be running the store on a part time Friday and Saturday basis until the end of the year, when the store may close.

E. Other.

Dan asked for clarification on who owns the City Center Parking Lot. Is it the Downtown Development Authority or the City of Eatonton. What party is responsible for events. Dan stated that whomever owned the property should hold the insurance. Dan asked to make sure that when Main Street hosts an event then insurance must cover it.

A volunteer from Gatewood should be asked to participate in future Main Street Meetings. Andrew to contact Mr. Charles the Headmaster.
